I think it's safe to say now the CP3 for Beal trade ruined the KD and Booker era of Suns basketball. Just ridiculous you had two months to get a player like Butler and could not because of Beal's NTC. Than out of desperation field offers for Durant. Now Durant is likely to be pissed.

Who's gonna guard SGA? Austin Reaves? Gabe Vincent?
This team as constructed right now still have too many holes on defense, they won't go far.
Dorian Finney-Smith? Jared Vanderbilt?

Adding a PF doesnt solve the slow predictable offense that literally rely on two players to create or find spot shooters. Defend that strategy and Suns struggle.
I want to say its Bud and his system, but we've seen this same offense and defense under Vogel and even Monty. 3 different coaches but the system hardly changes. The common denominator is the duo of Booker and KD....
Well, probably trading for a solid PF wouldn't make a huge impact on the team but we could be a more balanced team and just improve our roster.
Some names that fit the position and salary:
Jared Vanderbilt (Lakers), $10.7M +3 years.
Larry Nance Jr (Hawks), $11.2M expiring.
Obi Toppin (Pacers), $13M +3 years.
Patrick Williams (Bulls), $18M +4 years.
Bobby Portis (Bucks), $12.6M +1 year.
Brandon Clarke (Grizzlies), $12.5M +2 years.
Probably Toppin, Vanderbilt and Williams fit the mold better because we are trying to get a PF who can play some SF too. We will see.
Whoever has the best chance at outrebounding their opponent, to get us more 2nd and 3rd chance shots, is who I'd target. As was mentioned in few pages back in the older thread, we were outshot by 32 attempts last night...hard to win that way. On the season, we are like bottom 5 or 6 in total attempts, which pairs nicely with a similar ranking for rebounding. We have good shooters, but not
that good.
Also...can the Suns still claim to have a "Big 3", when one of those 3 come off the bench???
I know our troubles run deeper than just this, but it would, at least, be a good place to start, no??

I agree. Rebounding and defense. That’s why I would try to get Jarred Vanderbilt from the Lakers but I doubt he is available. They need his defense.

Booker should be a Sun for life. I would never trade him but Durant is definitely going to want out this summer after they fielded offers for him from Warriors and Heat. Suns are stuck with Beal.

What ruined the suns was trading for Durant
Durant was not needed
Now it’s time to retool and trade Durant and Booker
Are the Mavs still open to Durant
Klay Gafford and filler plus two FRps
Flip Klay to GSW for looney and Payton
The problem for the suns starts with 35 + 1

Do the right thing Ishbia. Book or KD to the Rockets for our picks back and a young player or two in the next 24 hours.
Press the reset button before it gets too late. This team is going nowhere

You mean by 3pm EST.
Durant could be traded possibly. They did not play him last night.
One certainty is Beal is not going anywhere.

They will use those firsts in an offseason trade . Also suns may use one of them today before the deadline

Booker should definitely NOt be a Suns for life! Give him his little tribute video and send his ass packing. He’s not beloved in Phx like Majerle, Barkley, Fitzgerald or Shane Doan. The franchise nor the city owes anything to him!

There goes the Olynyk/ Mogbo possibility?

Maybe Yabusele/ Drummond/ Bona/ Pete Nance Jr for O'neale/ CLE 27' 1st?
Maybe flip them Plumlee in a follow up trade for a future 2nd? That way they still have a center.
Also, can we just go ahead and trade Nurkic/ 27' CLE 1st to New York for Mitchell/ Kolek and Dadiet already? Then move Allen/ Dadiet to San Antonio for Paul/ Champagnie/ Mamu/ SA 25' 2nd ( 41st pick).
Or Allen/ (Dadiet in a followup trade) to Toronto for Boucher/ agbaji/ Mogbo/ POR 25/ 2nd ( 39th pick)!
Or Allen/ CLE 27' 1st to Orlando for Bidatze/ Houston/ Denver 25' 1st ( 24th pick).
This pick and the other first ( CLE 25 1st) are very important to target these two players in the 1st round this summer:
1- Sergio de Larrea. ( 6'8 point guard).
https://www.tankathon.com/players/sergio-de-larrea2- Johni Broome. ( 6'10 245 lbs PF/ C).
https://www.tankathon.com/players/johni-broomeThen in the 2nd round, target a big ( 3 & D) wing/forward. My strong suggestions would be Tugler: ( 6'8 230 lbs with a 7'6 wingspan and non stop motor)!!! Best defensive big wing forward in the draft.
https://www.tankathon.com/players/jojo-tugler JT Toppin:
( 6'9 225 lbs) and a two-way double/double
Machine).

Don't want any trades unless if it's to blow this thing up.
This teams issues are way too numerous to solve with one or two trades for role players at the deadline.

Mikal was by far my more favorite player of anybody since SSOL group. By far.
Like you said, give him his video. He has a big contract - trade him. If the Rockets want to protect the 2025 - so be it - but just give back the 2027 and 2029.
I would see if you can flip Tyus Jones to the Warriors as a back up PG
I would waive Damion Lee - he does nothing now
If anybody can be traded today - trade them'
And I would seriously call Denver - dangle Durant

My deadline day prediction
Nurk and a 2nd to Hornets for Josh Green
If this is the best we can do, I would just hang onto him and see if his contract is more valuable in the summer as an expiring.

It's crazy. The Hornets have one center who is a 2-way player.
Maybe the Suns can trade him into the Hornets cap space (assuming they have any) and it could get us under the 2nd apron?
That'd certainly cost us a first but it could be a sneaky good way to get out of the red zone for now.
EDIT: Nevermind. Seems we're close to 30 mil over the 2nd apron.
