Vasilije Micić

Post#1 » by Saberestar » Fri Feb 7, 2025 9:04 am

Well, I talked about trying to sign him a couple years ago when he was the Euroleague MVP and he was negotiating his arrival to the NBA.

He hasn't played very well but he is a solid PG. Not a good defensive player because of his physical limitations to defend fast and explosive players but he has size for position (6'5) and offensively he can do a bit of everything and can do a lot of damage on pick and rolls.

We count on him as a member of the team but waiving him (or Monte Morris or Damion Lee) is an option if we want an specific buyout player. No news about that yet so I expect him to play for the Suns.

For 2025-26 we have a Team Option (deadline 6/29/25).

I would play him a lot to see what we have. But more than likely he will be cut along with Marin so we can get under the 2nd apron.

Should go back to EL where he belongs like my man Vezenkov instead of rotting on NBA bench. I wanted the later, who put 45p on 3 dribbles recently, on the Suns in exchange for Little as contracts matched. His off ball movement next to our ISO stars at 6'9" could've been useful. I doubt Micic sees much time here. Maybe if they had sent Jones out for 2nd rnd picks.

It's not a must to cut him and/or Martin to get under the 2nd apron. If we like any of these guys we can exercise our team in the summer option and trade to a team with cap space Grayson Allen or Royce O'Neale or Nick Richards for example.

It's true that cutting these players it's the most possible outcome but it's not a sure thing.

That's why it's important to play him and see what we have so we can make a good decision.

I mean, is he any better than Gillespie? Other than being taller?

Per Sidery, he wanted the Nuggets to play with Joker or he wants to go back to Europe. If he takes a buyout - opens a roster spot for PJ Tucker and saves Ishbia a bunch of cash!

I thought they'll manage to get someone with size and athleticism for Nurk + pick, but they got neither. So happy for Ishbia saving money though.

I was kind of being facetious about saving Ishbia money

The big deal for trading the pick was how it might help this summer with the aprons and cap. For instance, if they can trade durant and save some cap space - they would be under the second apron.

Part of the reason I liked the Allen for the Orlando Center (Gigi, Gogi) was that it saved cap space. Not for Ishbia's wallet but for the apron rules

and the Suns need to figure this out... the new apron is prohibitive
