So Cole Hocker (Gold in 1500 at olympics) ran vs Grant Fisher (Bronze in 5K and 10K at olympics) in the 3000M yesterday.
Grant Fisher has been running some shorter races lately to improve his kick a the end of those long ones where he got bronze. I saw him run a 1500M the other day and do well.
If you remember the 1500M in the olympics, Cole Hocker had a massive kick at the end to stun the two favorites and take the gold.
So here you have a long distance runner vs a shorter distance more mile length runner with a massive kick..
Awesome race.
If you want to get to the last 3-4 laps where it gets good go to 7 minute mark.
Awesome race. I saw Fischer win an indoor 1,500 the other day against lesser competition, but obviously he's a distance runner, working on his finishing. And we know from the olympics how good Cole Hocker is at finishing...and he's used to the shorter races.
If you want to get to the last 3 laps go to 7 minute mark.

Yared Nuguse got the silver medal in the olympics in the 1500 behind Cole Hocker.....he goes down the stretch against Hobbs Kessler, another young American who is an up and coming racer. He also broke the previous world record here.

Re: Other sports - some new world records set
In terms of other sports, I've been pretty big on Sumo wrestling for the past year or so now. I used to be deep into MMA (I'm still somehow a mod on the MMA forum, which I was only suppose to help with temporarily) but post-Conor McGregor, it just isn't as interesting to me anymore so I stopped following. For a while I didn't really have a combat sport to follow but over the past year or so, I've been following Sumo.
I got in originally because I started watching/following a cooking channel on YT which follows a Sumo stable as they cook and eat their giant meals but also showed unedited long training sessions which threw off a big assumption I had that they were just fat dudes pushing each other. Yes, being big helps but the amount of brutal training they do and seeing the build on these dudes, there's serious muscle, hard work and wrestling skill to their game (probably some artificial enhancements as well).
The great thing about Sumo is that they don't have like a once year a type Finals/Superbowl but they have 6 tournaments a year, there's one main upper division and it's whoever wins the most bouts (each wrestler has 1 per day over 15 days) wins the Emperor's Cup. I also like that their scheduling is adaptable so a guy who's on a great 9-1 run will likely be matched up against someone of a similar record for the 11th bout. So you won't get to win it all without going through other wrestlers of a great record in that same tournament. On the flip side, if you're on a crappy 0-5 run, you have opportunities to improve because you'll be matched up with other 1-4 or 0-5 wrestlers.
The other thing I like about the Sumo is that it's a pretty simple sport to understand, throw away all the rituals and stuff which you can learn later but ultimately, it's two wrestlers in a ring and whoever touches the floor with any other part of their body first (or get pushed out of the circle) loses. There's no points, there's not many rules (ie you can't pull hair or strike with closed fist) and it's an easy follow.
There's promotions and demotion after every tournament, there's wrestlers with more exciting or more technical styles, there's showmanship before each bout and like I mentioned before, you can't win without going through the best so every bout matters.
There's my little promo for Sumo wrestling.
