The team brought back a few of their best players from last year’s squad, so it feels like a natural progression when you return three or four starters. That said, the team hasn’t lived up to expectations. On paper, St. Joe’s should be one of the best teams, but the results just haven’t been there. Still, the way Fleming has developed– especially his shooting – is impressive. He wasn’t known as a shooter, and now he’s knocking down threes at 41 percent. That’s caught my attention for sure.”

An Eastern Conference scout told HoopsHype on Fleming: “That’s my guy, I love his game. Just perfect for what we need. A 6-foot-9 forward that’ll stretch the floor and be able to guard in space as a day one role player is a steal for any team. I just don’t think he will fall to us, he’s on a lot of people’s boards.”

Yeah seems his big red flag is just around the the lack of self creation which obviously is a premium at the NBA level so for someone to be picked in the 2nd round, it isn't unusual. But a lack of self creation is something I don't really have an issue with. Not every player will have a creation role even if they can create so I'm far more impressed and focused with his ability to play both ends of the floor, rebound, pick up stocks, and finish plays whether it's from the 3 or it's in the PnR.

I love that we got Fleming. He was a player projected to go from 15 to 25.

When we had #29 he was a guy that you would wanted to trade up a few spots trying to get him...but he surprisingly made it to the 2nd round.

He was hands down BPA in the 2nd round. We did a good job overpaying to the Wolves to secure him because we got an NBA ready PF.

He fills a hole in the roster. We didn’t have any actual PF, but he is exactly that.

Just his physical profile is exciting. 6'9 with a 7'5 wingspan and 230 lbs.

His overall defense is one of his best attributes. Steals, blocks, deflections, intensity... I think that defense is never gonna be a problem for him. He is young and he probably will have foul's trouble early in his career, but I can live with that.

He isn't a shot creator by any means. His ceiling IMO is mediocre, but he has pretty high floor. I envision him as a solid role player that will play a good amount of years in the league. But you never know...he is really young yet.

The ball skills/feel may limit the ceiling, but Mostly have to hope the shooting is real to achieve the floor I think. This past season was the only one of three where he was a shooter.

We went from a roster, on Tuesday, that if being honest, ideally, we had 3 starters at SG, and 3 starters at SF, but ZERO starter-worthy PG's, PF's, or C's, and managed to fill both the PF and C spots with starter-worthy talent.

How nice it is to have a GM talented enough to navigate the draft board, to ensure our ability to nail a mid-to-late 1st Rd talent at a poition of need, in the 2nd Rd.

Like most here, I'm ecstatic with the addition of Fleming to our roster (then to follow it up with a two-way-level salary clone of Allen, allowing us to dump him, hopeully, during the rest of the off-season...)

I know I haven't posted here for likely a year, maybe longer, but what this team had turned into had 'turned' my stomach to the point that I would've had nothing but negativity to anything I would've posted, which those who remember me, know I am a die-hard 'defender' of those on the roster/FO--I simply had nothing positive to post...

If he can end up as a slightly more modern Taj Gibson or a better 3pt shooting Bobby Portis, which seems very possible....totally will have nailed this pick and set us up for years of a cost-controlled, productive piece.

I've been watching a few of his games and highlights....

I think Fleming is an absolute steal.

To me, he made the Suns draft.

I'm thinking he's going to play like a mixture of Jaren Jackson jr, OG Anunoby and Obi Toppin with production similar to Jackson.
If he starts, I think he will put up 12ppg 7rpg and 1.7bpg with 1.5 3s made a game at 35%...

I'm very high on him.... very.

Remember, they said Amare had low BBIQ. Sometimes scouting reports are kinda trying to find negatives about these guys cause it’s their job. I don’t think Amare had all world BBIQ but it wasn’t some stain on his resume like they made it out to be.

Have we seen a player like Amare since... Amare? Maybe Westbrook a bit, but no PF IMO. Blake Griffin could dunk, but Amare dunked with such viciousness.

Fleming looks solid to me. Watching some of his highlights, looking at YT comments, a lot of people were projecting him to go top 20, and some as high as the No 9 to the Raptors.

BBIQ is a pretty ambiguous term for a nuanced deal. Like there's a difference between being raw and being dumb.
