Boris Diaws' Shooting Woes

This doesn't/didn't really deserve its' own thread, but I couldn't find anywhere else to put it.
While Bell may be snapping a slump, Boris Diaw appears to be going deeper into one. He made two of his first three shots Sunday with a drive and a follow but missed his final seven shots, including an unguarded layup. Diaw, shooting more frequently of late, is 15 for 53 (28.3 percent) from the field in the past six games.
Can you imagine our scores if the below comment were to happen.

"We're going to enlarge the rim a little bit for him," coach Mike D'Antoni said.

diaw FG attempts have gone right up since he was challenged by dantoni, almost a 60% increase in shots per game
unfortunately he is missing them, but alot of the misses are 15-18 foot jumpers which he was nailing with kurt thomas like consistency to start the season
if im dantoni, i let diaw keep shooting, it will come back and the LAST thing we want is for him to go into his shell again
the fact he is taking more shots now though means he is being more aggressive, looking for his offense more, and that is something that we need, so im totally prepared to put up with a shooting slump
ESPECIALLY when we all seem to be so tolerant of bell and barbs shooting slumps / inconsistencies and let them keep shooting, so diaw, keep shooting frenchie, we are a better team when you are looking for your own shot
keep it up
(all in all, diaws last 10 games have been far better than the 10 before that, we can only ask at this point that each month is improved)

Just yesterday, I was cleaning out old files on my computer, and I came across Game 5 of the 05-06 Lakers series. I watched the first quarter, and it was really refreshing to see Diaw 1. able to get a rebound, 2. attack the rim. I guess it's good that Diaw's taking more shots, even if he's missing them all, but it seems like he's just taking more 15-18 foot jumpers that he had been passing up. Where are the drives against bigs and post-ups against smalls?

I think it's easy to explain with the return of Amare. Wtih Amare already hanging out at the low block, it's hard for Diaw to run a pick and roll to get on smaller players and even harder to drive to the hoop knowing that whoever is guarding Amare will be waiting there for the weakside help(block) because we all know Diaw doesn't jump to the hoop, he sort of walks then a small hop at the end.

You know what? I don't care if Boris is MISSING his shots. I'm just happy that he's actually making attempts and showing some balls.

bricking 18 foots with 28% accuracy does NOT = balls

What would you rather have him do, get two feet away from the basket then pass the ball out? What's the difference, you'd probably complain either way.

Why are the only options bricking an 18 footer and dishing out of a layup?
Your cynicism is shortsighted and crass.

When Boris takes 18 foot jump shots, it usually means he is being aggressive instead of being passive in the latter scenario and we all know which Boris we want every game.

Sounds like youre settling for a watered down version of aggression. Uncontested 18 footer isnt close to what he is capable of and we all know this.
