Blind Diaw Haters...
There's no doubt that Boris Diaw has not played up to his abilities (or seemingly even tried to) over the past year and a half. I think he's laced with fantastic basketball skills and a crucial key to this Suns team winning it all. Yeah!!!!!! His overall play has pissed me off! It hasn't made any sense why he hasn't put up the numbers over the past year+ with all the talent he has.
But! Why there is this dark pointed anger towards him is just weird. Something tells me if is name was oh? Reggie Thompson and he was grew up in North Carolina rather than him being from France, he wouldn't be facing this angry excrement slinging.
Like it or not you lovable, Diaw hating Suns fans, dude Diaw is a huge key for this team to win a title. He ain't going to be traded, you'd better get the fornication used to that fact. And whether you can see it or are simply too blind to see it... how Boris goes is likely going to parallel how far the Suns go this year.
If you hate Diaw then you hate the Suns and their chances... the destinies are intertwined.
Go to heck Diaw Haters
WATCH THE TITLES AND SWEAR FILTER DODGING MATE.
cheers

Chrissie, calm down, you sound like an immature kid going off like this. Your new, so cool your jets man.
First off, I don't give a damn where he is from, and most don't. To state that shows blind ignorance in your part, and those who use this to bag on him. To state this as one of the main reasons is just silly.
Most have voiced there disgust with his lack of play, and rightfully so. They have every right as a fan to bag on the lack luster play the past year and a half. Look at his actions after signing that contract? He came into camp overweight, seemed like he did not care that much, out partying in Scottsdale, his weight problems turned into injuries and so forth. At times, actions speak louder than words, and he was showing that his heart was not fully here.
Many are hard on him because they know what he is capable of doing as a versatile player. Many have higher expectations of him and know what he can do. The grant hill health issues stinks, but as many said, this can be a blessing in disguise. He is starting, and has made every bit of his playing time worth of him staying around. MD loves him, and would not give up on him like so many did. This chance gave him the opportunity to show he can play with Amare, and grow some. I personally did not think he would do as good as he has so far, which is great.
We know with our lack of bigs, he is going to be a big part in this team, especially when Marion or Amare get into foul trouble. If we want to win, we have to see this kind of play every game from him.
I am happy what he has done so far, but I want to see how things go when Hill comes back. I think he will keep this going and will finally play a big part in this years championship run.

he has all the tools, you can see he has a great basketball mind, probably the most polished back to the basket game in our entire squad, great vision, passing, a nice shot
but he doesnt seem to "get it" at times
when he is on tho, he has so much talent its hard to ignore, i can see why dantoni TRY's to stick by him and keep pushing him rather than give up

Chrissie here..
Granted, I went a bit over the top

New to here (get used to my strangeness), but I was posting on Suns excrement on Prodigy back in the late '80s ...when we were dualing with the Blazers.
Just tired of the Boris bashing. His pay check is too big, but he is a major key to getting this done.

Not sure if I am a Boris hater but at one point in the season I was certainly fed up with him. Miraculously he *slowly* started playing better once my thought hit rock-bottom with him.
You intimated that it was a "French" thing that made ppl hate him. I think that's only true with a very very small % of ppl. Lets face it, players who don't play up to their contract (especially directly after receiving that contract) get dumped on all the time regardless of race. Just ask Cavs fans what they think of Larry Hughes.
Don't know if I quite agree with the "How Boris goes, the Suns go" thing because we were still winning when he wasn't playing well but he undoutedly gives us a new dimension when he's playing well and unlike someone like Amare he gets others involved with his vision in the post.
Diaw has a fantastic skill-set but he's not a franchise player so he can't expect to be involved in the offense all the time. When he's not involved in the offense he still has to contribute. I think that's my biggest knock on him. I've said it before, he's a phenomenal post-up player and if he was 3 inches taller he would be a beast! He always seems to make the right decision on who to pass to when doubled and because he has good ball-handling ability he absolutely goes to town on smaller players. Unlike Amare he isn't fussed if a smaller player fronts him. He'll come out to 20 feet and collect the ball and then twist and back down his smaller opponent with great effect all the time watching for a double-team. Not many players in the NBA can do that.
We know what he's good/bad at. We just want him to try and be effective consistently.

Yes, but I'll say this tho (and I think I've said it before): if the Suns get the 05-06 Boris back, we're favorite to win it all this year. That player is just too much for anyone to handle. Throw Bruce Bowen, Josh Howard, whoever you can come up with, it just doesn't matter. Not that he'll drop 50 on you, but he's going to make plays, scoring or passing, that you just can't prevent. When Boris plays the way he did, I think hes definitely one of the tougher guys to guard in the league because of his array of moves inside and out. Its about consistency now. If we can get that kind of play every night, we're basically unstoppable. The Suns are a championship-favorite with him.
That's why I want the Suns to at least give him 3-4 games starting with Hill coming off the bench and see how that goes. If it works out, that would make our bench so MUCH stronger. In fact, I actually envisioned Boris starting over Hill when we sign Hill (refer here: LINK) But early in the season he's coming off the bench playing so poorly so starting him is nonsense, but with him playing better now, do we really want to mess with that?
To be honest, Hill had played better than I ever expected, but even then I still want Boris to start because that's mean Shawn can play the 4 and make us a bigger, more traditional team. And if Boris can rebound like he did the past two games, and then with Hill playing making and scoring off the bench, I think that would definitely make us a more dangerous team. Start him at the 5 and Amare at the 4, with Hill, LB, Skinner and the 9th man of the bench. Hill is a vet, and I think he would be effective either as a starter or as a reserve. He will bring his game no matter what.
I really think it's at least worth for a try, just to test things out a bit.

I kind of think we need to keep Diaw in the starting line up, and bring grant off the bench.
I understand your frustrations chris, but at times, I have been hard on him and a hater due to what I know he can do for us. I really like his stat line for his past two double-doubles. 14-10-6-2 is not bad at all. very good all around team that we need from him.

a week of playing at the level he can and is SUPPOSED to does not make up for a year and a half of slacking. the kid has cost us wins, and is a burden to our payroll right now. and if it werent for his nonshalont attitude, then i wouldnt have a huge problem with it.
but he's been asked MANY times if he thinks his contributions to the team are sufficient, and he's said each and every time that he thinks he's playing well and putting in enough effort. clearly lying.
and ChrisInAZ, you can dog on the Diaw haters all you want. but you know full well that it was and STILL is deserved.
if in two weeks the kid reverts back to his 4/4/3 lines, then i will be the first person to bump this thread right back up and lay into you.

When the Suns are all having a good night, I'd take them over anybody in the league, and most teams in history. And by a good night, I mean:
- Everybody shooting 50%+
- STAT on the floor for more than 30 mins
- Boris, not Doris
- Leandro doing that Jordan impression
- Grant with his inside/outside game
- Marion having a 'very good' night, and not chuckin' 3's
- Raja hittin' his J, and defending like he can
- and maybe even some tight D and a few 3's from Marcus or DJ
Trouble is that with a lot of our team, not everyone's going to have a great jump-shooting night. But on nights that nobody's having an off night? Forget it. Even if the Spurs are having a good night, too: if Shawn, Amare, Raja, Boris, and Marcus are all doing a decent defensive job; getting fair breaks from the refs; and the shots are flowin', I'd bet a house on a Suns win.

Not gonna happen. Again, if he's gonna come off the bench and average about 30 minutes a game, I think a 10/5/4 line would be sufficient. With all the talent we have on this team, you can't unreasonable ask for those kind of number. Also, dude never average more than 8 rebound a game even in his best season and you want 10? Be reasonable folks.

I don't think he is lying in purpose. He is just being who he is. He is not going to give high fives when he plays great, and he is not going to get down too much when he does not (which is most of the time). He may also be a shy and unassuming person. I remember the year he was playing great he always downplayed it. Even this season when he has a good game (which is not very often), he's kinda meh I always play the same blah blah blah So it's only make sense for him to also downplay his suckyness the past season and early on this season. That's just being who he is.
You can say Boris, with the kind of laid back and self-less attitude he has, is a waste of talent because imagine Amare with his skillsets and basketball IQ. Wow.
