Would we be better with GH coming off the bench?

Forgive me if this has already been discussed but I'm not sure MD should mess with Boris' groove right now. He just seems to be much more comfortable starting than coming off the bench. GH deserves to start but maybe he could handle coming off of the bench better than Boris. Just a thought.

Short answer, yes with an if.

Long answer, no with a but.

I know it isn't a sure fix but considering how fragile Boris' confidence is I think it may be worth a shot. MD could try it for a few games to "work GH back in" and see what happens.

I have the theory that part of the reason Grant came was because he was given a guarantee by DA that he would start. If he can play, he will start.

I hadn't heard that, and it doesn't seem like Grant to me.

Of course, for the vast majority of the season, he was playing much better than Boris, so it just made sense to start him. Still... I'd say start Boris and give Grant the same number of minutes off'a the bench, like what we do with Leandro: Seven starters, with ~10-15 minutes for Skinner and/or DJ/Marcus

It was never said, I just sorta read between the lines.

I read those between lines too. And I doubt Hill demanded, more like Dantoni offered.

When Diaw is starting he's playing with the better players so he gets less attention and more space. I thought Hill would be used more from the bench at the start of the year.

I would switch them game to game to keep them both happy

Here's the answer to my question. In the middle of this MD says GH will start. Oh well. Hopefull Boris can keep up the aggressiveness.

It's not about who's the better player or who's been better for us. They're both important player for us. The problem with Hill starting is that we lose Boris's contribution. But with Boris starting, we still have Hill comoing off the bench playing the way he's always capable of. Starting Boris with Hill come off the bench just add another weapon to our bench and would make us a much stronger team. I think it should at least worth a try.

It's all moot though, because Hill will start regardless.

I would say yes. I think hill would be fine off the bench. But we really need keep this going with boris. Lets see if 3D plays well if he starts or sits.

I wonder if MD is missing an opportunity here. If we were to make a change this is the perfect time. He could sell it as keeping a good thing going and bringing GH along slowly until his conditioning catches up to where it was 2 weeks ago. He always has the opportunity to see how GH reacts to coming off the bench and he can reinsert him into the starting lineup after he "regains his rythum". If Boris falls back into his malaise he may not get him back the rest of the season.

My thought exactly. And you can't re-visit the issue if he sucks coming off the bench. The reward should come now, not when he sucks and you want to reward him by giving him a starting job...I like Hill's perimeter D, but having Boris with the starter will push Marion back to the 3 thus making us a better rebounding team, theoretically speaking. Plus Boris is one of those guys that need to feel the flow of the game to kinda warm him up.

I really really hope Boris can keep it up coming off the bench, but I'm not getting my hopes up...and I think we will regret giving Hill back the starting job once we lose Boris again...

Should Diaw be named the vice-captain of this team? When he was named the captain of the French team he was consistently good, maybe what he needs is extra responsibility to be consistent?

It's interesting that we havn't heard anything about this topic coming from the valley. I am not surprised that the team isn't sharing it's internal discussions but you would think that at least Coro would be blogging about it. Maybe we will have to prod him a little.

Let's not get carried away. I want to see another full season where he looks like he gives a crap.
