Gasol?

Post#1 » by walkingart » Fri Feb 1, 2008 8:12 pm

What the F!!!

Are you kidding me, Kwame, Crittenton, and two first that are going to be late first rounders!

Had we kept KT could we had offered KT our 2008, 2010, and ATL's Pick for Gasol? Essentially being ATL's pick for Gasol since we got nothing for the other three pieces.

That was a pretty bad trade for the Grizzlies, but i don't know if we could have gotten Gasol for the KT package.

KT is an expiring contract and is a better player than Kwame. we could have gave them some other player and the atl pick, which could have been better. but nooooooooooo, we need to save the money now.

Damn, the freakn suns suck! I am soo pised. The lakers are going to spank us now. we play no D, have no size and their front line is going to crush us.

This is what you get by putting together MD, Kerr and Sarver. :banghead:

I am sorry, the door just closed even more now. The west is getting better, and better and we are not.

I think I am going to be sick!!!

When deals like this go down, it makes the deals we have made the past couple years look so horrible. Swapping picks with Bulls(Deng) to sign Richardson, then sending that pick with Q for KT, then sending that to Seattle w/two firsts for nothing! Selling off picks that we could have packaged for a player, JR to the Blazers on a good contract w/a pick for cash. Not signing JJ to a good contract when we could, over reacting with Diaw and locking him up after one good year!

Stepping back and looking at what the Suns have done the past few years, even before BC left, it is amazing that they are as good as they are!

I agree with Wamba: the Lakers do look pretty scary now, they definitely should be considered one of the favorites this season.

I just don't get this trade: they get a big expiring, which is nice, but since they won't be able to attract any top free agents will "only" save them money, a young prospect at a position they're already set, and two 1st round picks that most likely will end up pretty low - that's awful.
Seriously, I don't know what exactly the Bulls offered, but from what I've heard the Grizzlies could have gotten Nocioni + Tyrus, right? Sure, this would have cost them more money, but at least they would have gotten some useful pieces, not to mention that, if needed, there most likely would have been a third team willing to take on Nocioni in exchange for at least some cap relief. But in this deal they don't even get rid of Cardinal - just go on and trade Swift for the even more expensive, less useful Collins, and you'll be completely screwed :nonono:

Anyone else got the feeling that at least they are listening to offers for Mike Miller in order to get rid of even more salary, as well?

Essentially the Grizz trade Gasol for an expiring, they wont resign Kwame, Crittenton(a late first rounder) and two firsts(that are bound to be in the high 20's). How is KT's expiring with three firsts not enough? Hell, I would have given them 5 first rounders and KT's expiring! How many firsts have we sold off in the past three years?

Just because we could've made a deal doesn't mean we would or should. If we added Pao's max contract on our books we would be what, $15m over the cap. Come on guys this isn't fantasy bb. The Lakers were set up for this trade cap/wise. We aren't.

The Lakers are now at $71 million for the year, and $74 million for next year.

And we have handled our players signing horribly over the past few years!

Personally, I dont give a damn about our books. I want to win a championship NOW! If we had KT, I expect them to make the best move to make this team better.

I think this will lead to another trade.....maybe kidd.

Its over man, Im telling you.

Why do the lakers get Gasol with their expiring contract and we get to hand the Sonics 2 draft picks just to get rid of our expiring contract.

And we are at $71 and $71 without KT or Gasol. So you think we shoulda taken on $13m more? It's easy to spend someone else's money.

Because our FO is stupid!

We have to make a move guys. We have to address our weaknesses, and have 3 weeks to do it. Its time to get rid of a big contract and our atl pick to get bigger, better, and more depth. If the suns do not get past the 2nd rd, is MD's job on the line?

Wow! Let's all settle down a little. The bottom line is that we aren't in a great position to do anything drastic. Sarver has said that he isn't trading our core. I take that to mean Nash/Stat/Matrix. I doubt they move GH. Boris has a little trade value but is BYC so that makes moving him tough. LB is probably our most tradeable asset but his BYC status is also difficult to move. Nobody wants Banks. The only thing they can really do is package some of our smaller contracts together for a big. Problem is, who want's Pike and Marks?

The best thing that could happen now is if PJ got off of the couch.

No I don't think that they should have taken on more money I just say that KT had trade value. Teams want and value Expiring contracts I just say we shouldn't have just given seattle KT and then to ad draft picks to it was dumb. KT would've had way more value now than he did at the beginning of the season. you're right Walkingart Timing is everything.
