Mavericks waive Fazekas

This would be a great project considering the Suns need a PF that is capable of running, rebounding etc. Nick was given up on in Dallas after a half of a season in the Dleague where he was an All-star averaging 19pts and 9rebs.

So heres a funny series of events

Fazekas sent to dleague

does well in d league

gets nominated for d-league allstar game

gets called back up to mavericks, leaves d-league

cant play in dleague allstar game because is now part of nba

gets cut by mavericks

Meanwhile,

retired mav sitting at home with millions in the bank
gets call out of the blue for a 4(?) million dollar benchriding deal.

add that to the devean george debacle, and the stackhouse drama, and this is one of the most ridiculous trade efforts ive ever heard of.

The Mavs feel like they are self-destructing right now. I'm sure they will try and resign Nick after he clears waivers or however that works, but I just don't see them being able to do anything productive down low.

No teams will respect their interior at all. What is it now? Dirk, Dampier, Howard and Bass? C'mon. They won't play Nick even if they resign him.

The Mavs needed two things.

1. A point gaurd who can distribute the ball and create shots for everyone else.

They answered this with Kidd. Before, Dirk, Josh and Jason had to create their own shots or come off of a screen in order to score. On top of that, they have one of the best rebounding gaurds in NBA history.

2. A center who can score and take the pressure off of the perimeter.

They still don't have a center who can score regularly, and now, without Diop, they have one less center who can defend the paint reliably. They already sacrifice defense at the forward position with Dirk on the floor. Now they are in real trouble.

Suns should make him the 13th man just so we can have the inside knowledge on the Mavs he would bring.

Brilliant. I can imagine he would gaurd Dirk on a semi-regular to regular basis. Who else would gaurd him in practice? Bass?

Since when did we need a pf. Don't we have Amare, Boris, Skinner, Marks? I seriously doubt he is better than any of them.

SUNS are looking for wing defense.... Nick is anything but a defender.

Fazekas would work really well in D'Antoni's system. He is also a terrific rebounder. He'd be a great change-up from Amare, too. Completely different games.
