3-Way (Suns/Sonics/Cavs)

Post#1 » by jlove_26 » Wed Feb 20, 2008 6:11 pm

Cavs are supposedly interested in KT and are willing to give up Gooden, but Seattle doesn't want Gooden's contract. We are in need of a 2/3 defender, and would also like to get a good back-up at PG. So, why not a 3-way, plus a side deal of us using our KT TPE? I'd definitely be willing to give up the Atl pick for this deal, because it helps us long term at PG and a big man.

Sonics get: Diaw/Tucker/Newble

Cavs get: KT/Pike/Atl Pick

Suns get: Ridnour/Gelabale/Gooden

Sonics - take on contracts, but they rid themselves of 2 players they don't want in Ridnour and Gelabale.

Cavs - get KT to play the 4 or 5, plus a vet that can spread the floor

Suns - we actually DECREASE our salary out this year, but take on more salary long term with Ridnour and Gooden.

Ridnour can become an even better PG replacement with Nash mentoring him. Gooden is a good back-up for Amare at the 4, and he can play alongside Amare when Shaq is out. That way we continue our rebounding. Plus we get Gelabale, who quit a few people here have said they would like to see here backing up Grant at the 3.

After getting a better look at that deal, I have to change it a bit to make it better for the Cavs. Seattle still gets rid of all that salary, and the Cavs get more help in the frontcourt.

Sonics get: Newble/Brown/Marshall/2nd rd pick from Cavs via Suns

Cavs get: Diaw/KT/Tucker

Suns get: Gelabale/Gooden/Ridnour

pretty much the same deal(s)...the breakdown from the Suns side is we trade Diaw/Tucker for Ridnour, and use the KT TPE between Gooden and Gelabale. The rest is just trade.

The Suns still get the groomable PG for Nash, a serviceable SF that plays defense and can shoot the 3, and a back-up PF in Gooden. Makes us a better team overall.

The Cavs get better in the front court with Diaw and KT over Gooden and Newble for their run in the East.

The Sonics still shed cap space with the expiring deals of Newble and Brown, with Marshall having one more year. They shed almost $5mil in this trade alone, plus they get rid of Ridnour's long term deal.

Not bad, but I'd say that Diaw has just managed to work himself back into good standing.

Let's see how the next few weeks of hard games go...

I wouldn't want to give up Diaw and ATL for Drew and Luke. They are alright, but if we were shipping Diaw, I would want to get Mike Miller or Ron Artest back.

It's not a bad tarde. Ultimately Diaw and ATL could net us more.

The deal isn't worth the ATL pick.

Yeah, let's lose 2 of the 4 best under-28 assets we have (Barbs, Amare, Diaw, ATL pick) for scrubs.
