Ron Artest

Post#1 » by fuhgidabowdit » Thu Feb 21, 2008 3:28 pm

what would take for us to get this guy, he is such a good player its not even funny, 20ppg, great defender, yea his attitude is bad, but im sure nash and shaq can fix that, i would love to see a lineup of amare, shaq, hill, artest, nash together.

would kings go for like a diaw tucker pick for him?

I'm sure we have like 3 threads on this already..

Diaw is BYC, makes it difficult to do a straight up trade. We would have to use the Kurt TE to acquire Artest and then ditch Diaw for essentially nothing. Could work something out, I imagine..

As for whether or not the Kings would do it, depends on how much they like Diaw I guess. Maybe ask around on their board?

The dark horse in the Artest discussions may be the Suns. According to two league sources, the Suns have some interest in Artest. The team feels like they need to replace Shawn Marion's perimeter defense, and Artest would fit the bill. His ability to guard four positions makes him coveted, despite the concerns about his personality.

The Suns have a trade exception (which they acquired in the trade of Kurt Thomas to Seattle) which would allow Phoenix to acquire Artest without including other players in the deal. To make it happen, the Suns would likely have to include the first-round pick they acquired from Atlanta.

The problem with what Chad Ford said is that he says a lot of B.S. I can't remeber the last rumour he trotted out that turned out to be true. Don't mistake me, he's one of the best writers there, especially analizing draft and prospects. He simply has terrible sources when it comes to trades.

I know he would be a huge risk, but I am willing to take it. Why, because he is an expiring contract, and we have the TE that we can use on him. If it does not work out, he walks. Shaq is a huge risk, but can help Artest out a lot. since marion is gone, that is our weakness.

I would be so pumped if we got artest. That would be sick. but to get him with the TE, most likely you can kiss the ATL pick good by.

question is, is it worth it?

Nope. The Hawks will end up 10th-13th in the East and the pick will be top 12.

Me too, I'd love to have Artest on our team. He may be a head case but with the talent around him and ring potential, I think he'd get his stuff together. We need that kind of player in the post season as well, with Shaq and Artest on the court you can bet there wouldn't be anymore Robert Horry cheap shots on Nash.

The only problem is that he WAS right...they were talking about that trade. Doesn't seem like it's happening now, but they talked about it seriously yesterady.

So it's over? Damn, as much as I dislike Artest, he's a great player and could bring a lot to the Suns.

db,

Is gambo right and we're going with Linton Johnson or bust? It's a real shame if that's the case.

I heard that the Suns never even wanted to trade the pick, instead were throwing out Diaw + filler for Artest. The Kings obviously denied it...not sure why the Suns would throw out an offer like that? Maybe just testing the water?

Haven't really gotten any info recently...just that QRoss is a no go and talks with Colangelo in Toronto were a no go as well (not sure who they were talking about there). No idea about the last roster spot...haven't heard any names today.

They may not have wanted to trade it, but it was said multiple times in the office...ATL's first and the TE. Whether that means, that's what the kings were requestion, or what the Suns were offering...i'm not sure.

Yeah, I saw this off a Sacramento Kings forum at ebsports.net, the mod there (Eze) is usually right on with Kings trades.

The Suns have interest in Ron...but they're pretty close to trading for Quinton Ross. They really never have offered the ATL pick like they keep saying...they've offered Diaw.

We asked a member of the Suns last night what he knew (the same one who let us know of the Shaq trade a few days before it went down), and he said they were seeking to bring in Ron but didn't know at what cost.

I dug a bit deeper and they only had small talks, and the Suns insisted we take Diaw, not the TE and pick like Chad keeps reporting.

Fudge!

That would have been awesome even if we had to include the pick!

Nash/DJ
Bell/Barbosa
Artest/Hill
Amare/Skinner
Shaq

That's 8 or 9 deep. 10 if we keep Diaw and just ditch the pick...

Artest would help us big time...shame on us for not pulling the trigger. We would be loaded!

Watch the language Lukas, don't just ignore the swear filter

give it a few more games with shaq, watch diaw even sport a tattoo soon, he has all the abilities to be great, its just that those french are soft, hopefully someone messes with him or something to get him more pumped up.
