Antoine Walker

I realize he officially hasn't been bought out yet, but it seems like it is a possibility according to some of the posters on the Minny board. If Barry goes to another team, would Walker be someone to strongly consider?

Only if the NBA adds on a 4 point line

It might be a stretch, but it seems he brings the same skill set Barry brings, just to a lesser extent. He has decent ball handling skills, capable of hitting the three, and he isn't a great defender, but neither is Barry...I don't think.
I remember seeing him in Miami and he is streaky. When he is off, nobody in the league can lay a brick like Toine

(no rim, no net, all backboard).
But, at the same time, when he's hot his ugly tippy-toed shot just seems to go in.

i don't know how that guy still has a job in this league. he must be doing something right, but every time i watch him i cringe

Hell no
I hate that shimmy...he used to be the real deal for about 5-6 years, but not anymore. Gimme Barry or Giricek

Ugh. No thanks. That guy probably dominates at the Y, but that's about it.

I wasn't suggesting Walker
over them, I was just saying instead of going into the playoffs with Linton as the Suns star free agent signee..
I'd rather have Barry
and Casell

, but odds are Casell dips to Boston and Barry probably goes back to the Spurs.
I'd take Walker just on the off chance he gets hot during the playoffs like he did with Miami, than nobdy...

Walker is a plaoff tested player and Phoenix might be the perfect fit for him
my concern is that he has to practice layups jeje but I love the Shimmy!!!!
Miami didn't appreciate him and now they got stuck with Ricky "Cancer" Davis

I don't like Walker but he's exactly what we need: a shooter. And a good shooter at that. If he gets bought out and we don't get Barry, we better make a serious play for him. He'd be perfect coming off the bench to give us 3 shooters on the floor with LB and Raja or Nash. No matter what we need something off the bench.

His career avgs are .414 FG% and .325 3PT%
This season, he's shooting
.363 FG% and .324 3PT%.

Beat me to it rsavaj, HORRENDOUS this season. If you thought Jajo was streaky, he ain't got NOTHING on Walker...
I wouldn't mind his size and passing ability, but don't we have that with Diaw anyway?

Maybe good was a stretch, but he's better than Diaw and Hill. And he would actually shoot the ball. Even though they aren't that good behind the line, they kill us when Steve gives em a rhythm three but they turn it down and pass it again. That's why we end up running down the clock and stuff.
He would at least stretch the defense. They have to honor him because he can shoot it. And you can't really talk about this year, he's on the Wolves. He probably doesn't get a lot of wide open shots

On a good team, when Miami won the title, he shot .358. Not eye-popping, but not horrible.

Grant Hill: .499 FG%, .338 3PT%
Boris Diaw: .452 FG%, .333 3PT%
....that's still better than .363 and .324
I understand what you mean conceptually, but Antoine Walker isn't the player we need.

^Plus Hill and Diaw don't think they can shoot the 3, whereas Walker probably thinks he gets a cupcake for every bad shot he hoists up
I don't hate the guy, in fact he gets a bit of a rough go, I just think he's well past it

I agree with you, he might not be the best player for the Suns, but you have to admit the talent floating around from buyouts is really slim...
And one thing from the Pistons game that stood out was the Suns lack of shooters. I know they all need time to aclamate to one another and they are going to struggle for a while, but this deficiency is probably going to be a problem even after they start to mesh. All they did was clog up when Shaq was low and basically ignored the "threat" the Sun's posed from 3. If Barry isn't picked up and Casell isn't either, wouldn't signing him be better than signing some D-League player who hasn't smelled the playoffs?
I am not saying he going to light it up like Ray Allen, but on the off chance he's decent I don't see the tremendous risk in taking him.

Better than Hill? Uh, no.
Better than Boris? Possibly, yes, because Boris is a coward when he has the ball. He gets in the lane and runs back out. At least Walker would shoot it. I dont dislike Boris, but damn he needs to get some more confidence.

I thought about Walker being a Sun.
When he is in his groove, he will give you 3-4 3pters a game, maybe out of 9-10. Thats heaps, but thats what Tim Thomas gave the Suns.. But Tim Thomas was just too perfect for the Suns system.
I still do not understand why the Suns didnt try harder to get Tim....
sigh...
