The Suns expect to hear from free agent guard Brent Barry either late Monday or early Tuesday regarding Barry

Yes.. He's been considering those 4 teams for a while now. Most think he's a heavy lean to return to San Antonio. From what I've heard, he's pretty happy in San Antonio, and the biggest concern for him is moving his family/being away from family. So it's still a coin flip.

A team that doesn't want him , who traded him, has a limited role for him? I don't think he'll come back to SA, if he wants a pivotal role.. I think that if he wants the biggest role, he'll come to us rockets, and if he wants a 2nd bigger role, he'll go to the suns. Houston is closer to his family too.

Barry is just playin' the Suns.....he's known all along where he wants to go and that is with the Spurs. Him and Pop probably had this thing orchestrated from jump, they get a quality player in Kurt for mashed peas :nonono:

With that said, I really hope the Suns do get him...

I think he will stay home, but you know Phx has to look really tempting to him. Most likely, he would get more mins, have a bigger role due for our need for him, and he gets to play with nash and shaq.

I really hope they can convice him to come here!

I will be shocked if he doesn't go back to SA. Here's what we know:

1. Barry gets traded right in the middle of rehabbing a bad ankle (ie, wasn't going to play this month anyway).

2. He goes to a team with former assistants and a GM from SA. This team just *happens* to cut him before March 1 - even though many other teams (like Sac, memphis and others) aren't planning on cutting their 1-year contract fillers they obtained in deals.

3. By moving Barry and Elson for Kurt, SA saves enough just to slide under the tax. Now, SA can add Barry back and still be under the tax.

The only reason he's saying he's even considering Phoenix is to make sure the league doesn't see the obvious charade this whole move was. It was simply a play between the Spurs and their old assistant GM now in Seattle to both get a better postseason big (KT), end up under the luxury tax and still keep Barry for the postseason roster.

It's a shame we don't have the "trade board" that Pop wanted during the Lakers move or they could have rejected this deal outright for collusion. It will be interesting to hear Pop's comments on the "fairness" of this whole situation when Barry commits to SA tomorrow. Somehow I doubt he will show as much outrage as he did after the Gasol move.

I really hope he signs with us, but I'm pretty sure he's going to the San Antonio Spussies.

I have heard nothing...which leads me to believe that we've got no shot. But I've been wrong before.

How much would it cost the Suns to keep both Barry and Johnson?

Boston Globe this morning:

Barry, who was traded by San Antonio to Seattle last week and subsequently released, clears waivers today, and it is believed he has decided on going to the Phoenix Suns.

They don't reveal any sources to support this conclusion.

I totally expected him to sign with san antonio purely because it seems like a no brainer for the spurs for the reasons that arles listed

his family is there etc, so why would he leave if he didnt have to?

Tho that said, he would get a better opportunity in phoenix, (not too many players could say that at the moment) and perhaps he really isnt happy with the spurs for trading him?

i give us a 10% chance, the spurs 80% and mavs rockets celtics can split the remaining 10%

one thing that gives me hope is that he is deciding by tomorrow, instead of drawing it out the 30 days, does he already know he doesnt want to return to san antonio and is ready to start with another team?

once again i doubt it, but i do have some hope it just might happen for us

he can also contribute to coaching staff on how to prepare a gameplan against the spurs.

Not so fast, SDU...

"He's bouncing stuff off me. It comes down to where he feels really wanted and will play a pivotal role. His role was not that huge in San Antonio. He wants a pivotal role on a team with a chance to do something special. The teams
