Wiretap:

Giricek Close To Buyout?

Should Brent Barry choose to return to San Antonio, the Phoenix Suns may turn their attention to Sixers shooter Gordan Giricek, who the Arizona Republic is reporting could be bought out by Saturday.

There is zero evidence the Sixers are considering buying him out. His salary is $4 million. I'd assume he have to take less for any buyout. Sixers do have to release 2 players I believe. So it might be him?

It's becoming common courtesy in the NBA for GM's to buy sought after guys out who aren't playing before the playoff deadline. I'm sure they talk and know the favor may come back to them someday.

^I bet you would funboy ;)

Yeah we could use him here, but not sure if he'd get that much more time than Pike...we are desperate for a shooter under 45yrs old though I suppose...

Does he even have any game left? I looked at his stats, but he's played in so few games they're kind of pointless. At least Barry was one of the buyouts that could contribute immediately and get significant time on the floor....can the same be said for Giricek?

Gira is much better player at this point of his career than Pike. I would expect him to play over DJ and get around 18m/g. He is a good shooter overall but has never really settled into a role.

For some reason, I really dislike Giri....I've always thought he's absolutely worthless as a player, I don't really know why.

I agree. The only thing he can do is catch & shoot. I rarely see the guy break a serious sweat on the court. Defense is F+

I would be interested to see him get some time outside of Utah. Jerry Sloan has been known to beat guys down and he could have a bit of a rebirth under MD. I wouldn't be surprised if he played well under the freedom that this system allows.

Gira is a very good defender, his defense is very underrated!

As a Jazz fan who watched Giri for 4 years, I'll tell you right now, Giri is an atrocious defender. He dances around and makes it look like he's playing D, but he ends up using his hands. To be honest, Korver is a BIG upgrade defensively from Giricek.

He is a very streaky shooter and likes to create his own shot. He does a pump fake move which gets called for traveling 95% of the time, which was Jazz fans main complaint.

Giri is a nice guy and would probably do a lot better in your system than Sloans. Give him a shot.

carrer average: 1,36 TO Per Game

every Suns player (with playing time), except Raja Bell, has more TO!
