Ira Newble

Post#1 » by Black_Apollo2.0 » Fri Feb 29, 2008 10:03 pm

Ron Artest, Brent Barry, Quentin Ross, Sam Cassell and a few other high profiled players have all unfortunately fallen through the Sun's grasp. I mentioned Antoine Walker in another post, but he probably won't be bought out. Most likely we'll sign Giricek and call it a day, but what about signing Ira Newble. He's a capable defender that could spell Hill. Now, I know that's what Linton Johnson is for, but during the playoffs having multiple quality defenders on a team can't hurt.

Press Release
The Seattle SuperSonics have waived forward Ira Newble. Newble was acquired by the Sonics in a trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers on Feb. 21. He logged 17 minutes in two games for Seattle.

I don't think the Suns ever had any interest in Artest, Cassell or Walker

You would be incorrect. They definitely were interested in Artest...just not for the asking price from the Kings.

This i think we could all agree on. I would argue that the idea of Cassell was entertained too, at least in theory, as a possible playoff backup for Nashty.

Regardless, I like the addition of the role players we currently have. I would like to keep Linton Johnson if we could. I like his hustle and on a personal, non-business related note, I think you reward hustle.
