Theoretical Pie in the Sky Minutes for Offensive Explosion!

Hey as someone that has read these forums for awhile, and been posting more, I figure I will throw in an uneducated posting about my dream Suns minutes distribution. Also I have position specific notes after

Figuring 48 mins x 5 players on court at once , so 240 mins total

Player ______ Mins

Nash _______ 32
Bell ________ 30
Hill _________ 30
Amare ______ 34
Shaq _______ 28
Barbosa ____ 28
Diaw _______ 28
Girachek ____16
Strawberry __ 6
Skinner _____ 8

Depending on game situations (ex: fouls/blowouts) +/- 2 mins
(check my math please :) )

Point Guard Position (bringing the ball up/initiating the offense)
Nash
Hill (take him out earlier than Nash, as a quick breather, then return
for Nash as PG
Strawberry (who would sub from 1 to 2)

I think it would take a lot of stress off Nash and Barbosa, let Barbosa learn to be a PG later down the road if he really wants to. He seems better off the ball at the moment, and could focus his energy on offense and working on defense(ex: really using his speed for the passing lanes)

Center

Shaq/Skinner/Diaw

I think Diaw really played well as Center before and can guard big men in short stretches well. Keep Amare at PF for now so that he can patrol the passing lanes(last night he had 4 steals, something we have been missing since Marion left) to an extent (I know hes a shot blocker too, but he can gamble a little more than without fouling). Also allows Amare to go to the perimeter a bit more (3 pointers anyone?) allowing him to draw defenders to blow by them.

SG
Bell/Barbosa/Giracek. Perhaps bring in Barbosa more with the 2nd unit, and Giracek more when Shaq is out there to spread the defense.

Overall:

I was thinking of this way, just so that the Suns could run, run, and run. They would have a lot of players to use for offensive and defensive speed. I don't think Shaq needs a whole lot of minutes (28-32 as noted) to be a really good addition. I am figuring that even so Skinner and Strawberry do not get many minutes, it is better than nothing, and knowing they would play about every game, they might try a bit harder (not that they aren't, but its human nature to have a bit of a let down if not being utilized either in job, society, etc).

What does everyone think? I know Mike D will never do this, but I am looking from the standpoint of running his offense into gear faster than GS, even. However I do support and like Mike D a lot though, and hope he can trust the bench a little more. Back to 48 minutes of hell for the other team :)

Thanks for making the board so enjoyable, everyone!

I don't feel like checking math, but I agree that we should spread out minutes. Realistically, I see Shaq getting more minutes, but 28 might be a nice number.

I think DJ should sub in for Nash and we can try LB for Barbs. Then we sub out Shaq with Diaw. Or we could sub Diaw with Hill if we're playing a big team?(Lakers possibly when Bynum returns).

I'd like Hill to stay between 28-34. I feel much more confident now with his health and I think he can handle those minutes.

    Let's be realistic here. Please.

Mike D is not going to shave down minutes for the starters. He is not going to play Skinner or DJ. Period. Nash will get run into the ground as usual.

Please. Everyone. Stop wishing. Mike D has had plenty of seasons to learn from mistakes. IT AIN'T HAPPENING.

^See this guy gets it, but as Ruckus says, it ain't going to happen. Problem is EVERYONE bar D'Antoni can see it's broke, and damned if he's going to use coaching skills to fix it.

    Thanks Tastic.

Remember how well Skiiner played for us? We needed blocks and he helped out huge in that department. BTW, he has same number of blocks on the season as Shaq(maybe a difference of 1...) in a substantial less time....

And once Shaq comes to the team.... Skinner rides the pine for the rest of the season. We are actually deep in the front lines with Diaw, Amare, Shaq, and Skinner....

The only good thing about the team possibly missing the playoffs this year is D'Antoni would get fired. Our pick would certainly be one of the top 3, as the Suns are cursed. And Grant Hill would likely leave.
