Sign Gerald Green!!!!!

Post#1 » by dm17415 » Sat Mar 8, 2008 9:36 pm

Green was released by the Rockets, sure he has low basketball IQ and rumored attitude problem. But we sure could use a young, athletic shooter like him and maybe even part of our long term plans.

^Yeah totally agree. He must have a real attitude problem though to be what - 21? And already OFF his 3rd team...

I could see him fitting here as a three point shooter who can also run the floor...So yeah, we won't sign him. He had the talent to be a top 20 pick, why not sign him for 2 years at the min?

Green could be to Suns what Jr Smith is to the Nuggets, but with much less baggage.

Tastic - He was the 18th pick.

Gerald Green is awful. I'm a Cs and Suns fan, and I don't think he has anything to offer to the Suns other than a few garbage time dunks. He's a streaky shooter, plays no defense, and makes stupid mistakes all the time.

^Yeah the person I immediately thought of was JR Smith too. Which is why it wouldn't surprise me if the Spurs target him like they did Smith last year...

Is this the same Green that demand a trade from the Timberwolves cause of playing time? He must be really good to do something like that. Sign him!

I wouldn't mind him, but I'd be infuriated if he got time ahead of DJ.

Would he be playoff eligible if the Suns did sign him? That stupid rule about March 1st always confused me...

I say pick him up. It's not like MD is going deep into his bench anyway. Worst case scenerio he sits on the bench and hopes to get in at garbage time. Best case he plays quality ball and gives Hill quality breathers.

He needs to care about the game he is in if he wants to be successful...unfortunately, I dont see to many coaches who can successfully mold this guy into a winner.

Riley -- good God no.
Adelmen -- heellll no
D'Antoni - ha.

Jackson -- This guy is one heck of a coach like it or not. Its scary how continually successful this man has been, squeezing every ounce of talent out of his rosters, his uncanny coaching styles are unparalled. By far the best coach in the league, and I think the only one who can truly mold a player into the best player they can be.

(c'mon -- he got the best out of Kwame...)

How bad can this kid be? We can't judge him based on this season, but in 06-07 at the age of 21 he played in 81 games starting in 26 of them. He averaged 10.4 ppg, 2.6 rpg and 1 apg while playing 22 mpg, with 1.2 3ptm every game at 37%. As a starter in the same season he averaged 16 ppg, 3.6 rpg and 1.6 apg while making close to 2 3pt every game at 36% (with more shots taken). Green managed all this with a rookie Rajon Rando, West and Telfair taking turns as C's starting PG. This guy is a low risk high reward type of player and at worst would be in DA's doghouse but we sure can use his athleticism and working with Weber can make him a lethal shooter.

Don't even guys... it is like signing RJ Smith... singing him would mean to lose at leats 5 games the season due to his stupidity.

Plus, the GM mentality can't be like the Knicks... look where they are right now
