Forward Linton Johnson's second 10-day contract expired Wednesday and he is no longer with the team. The Suns, who now have 13 players, would have had to sign Johnson for the remainder of the season.

That sucks...I really liked him.

Agreed. Now we only have Barbosa/Giri, and neither of them are good defenders(although Barbosa's getting a bit better and Giri's trying hard). DJ won't get any PT, but I thought that Johnson would seeing as how he's a "veteran".

What does these 10 day players make money wise this season?

About now is when I want to beat Kerr and D'Antoni senseless. This is either a precursor to another signing to replace him or just stupidity; time will tell.

No big loss. He was overrated as a defender anyway. It's no use being a "lockdown" defender if you foul your man every time down the court.

They have had a chance to see Gira and like his potential. He has been very adequate on D so far. He will continue to get better as he gets in game shape.

I liked rewarding him with a second ten-day becuase of his hustle. Unfortunately you can only sign a player to two consecutive 10 days. We would have had to give him the vet min, which in effect would have been like signing two veterans because of the lux tax.

Still, I appreciate hustle. There are alot of players nowadays that are either on or off hustle wise and thats frustrating. Linton was always on.

Good luck. Hope another team signs him for their playoff roster.

Not a huge loss, but I still liked what he brought to the table everytime he stepped on the court.

Giri will have 2 get in shape now n prove that he was worth keeping over LJ, who, so far, was quite a bit better then Giri at our what our main weakness is (perimeter D).

he was solid, but if anyone thought we were going to carry above the minimum roster level then you were crazy

i think it's something like the mini. salary for how long a player has been in the league (so $611,000 for a 5-year vet) divided 82 games and then multiply that by how many games he plays during those 10-days.

Agreed. That's called being a poor judge of bench talent right there. He's a guy you can get hustle/intensity minutes from. He was quick, athletic, quality defender, and a good leaper. The fouls are only an issue because ref's aren't familiar with him. That would change eventually.

I'm actually quite surprised this guy is of the 10-day contract variety to start with.

It's pathetic, what happens if we play a team with some athletes on it and Hill/Bell get hurt? You want to see GG/Barbosa try and guard TMac/Josh Howard/SJax???

Horrible move. Release Pike or give him a job in the front office, at least Johnson will PLAY to EARN another contract

Why was I born at 6' 2" and not 6' 6" :P Maaan. I figured we wouldn't keep him, it'd be nice to have a perimeter defender but oh well. D'Antoni won't even use bench players that haven proved they can add to our team, so it's not surprising.

Is Pike going to be activated or will Tucker? It makes no sense to activate Pike with Giricek on the roster, at least Tucker can guard someone if needed.

Good take guaves13. He was not going to play anyways. but, we are really thin at SF. Bell has no chance against good SF, neither does Giri. U just hope that we can stay healthy at the 3. Maybe they will find someone else..............naaaaahhh.

If we had some injuries on the perimeter they would probably use Boris on some of the longer 3's. He does a decent job most nights defensively and can guard 1-5. Anybody else think that Boris has become a little more consistent since Marion left? I know he isn't earning $9m but at least he isn't completely worthless.
