Power Rankings for 3/17

Nothing new of course, but typical:

SI: 10th, with with Mavs, Spurs, Utah, and Magic ahead of them

Hollinger: 11th, with Mavs, Spurs, Utah, and Magic ahead of them

ESPN: 7th, with only Utah ahead which is fine by me

NBA.com: 9th, Utah, Spurs, Magic ahead

I love these power rankings, especially the Magic , Spurs, and Mavs ahead of the Suns right now (no I am not basing just on record).

Oh well I can take solace in this: NY Giants power ranking at end of NFL season (before playoffs): ESPN: 10th, SI: 9th. : )

Actually I don't mind the ranking at all if diverts media attention from us.

The Suns have generally performed closer to their peak when they consider themselves the underdogs. Nash's first season in particular comes to mind.

im assuming the magic are ahead because its easier to come out of the east?

I could care less about the rankings because they don't mean anything. I'd rather have people think we're still slipping and not playing well, so they underestimate us come playoff time.

Underdogs suits me just fine...we've gone in as a #1 or #2 seed recently and have had bought into all the hype surrounding it, maybe it'll do us good.

Shaq looks re-energised and I love the drive and attitude he's brought to the team

The Suns have always seemed to play better when considered underdogs...So I would just prefer to stay that way. Let Houston, LA, etc. have the spotlight.

Oh I agree, I like being the underdog, but I just find it funny how quick the Suns have been written off.

I think Kenny Smith is the only 'expert' who thinks we can do something in the post season...

I question whether LAL wants Bynum back? They've done so well without him, and essentially either Turiaf or Vlad would have a vastly reduced role, both of whom cause issues for other teams but in two different aspects of the game. I HATE watching vlad play anyone other than the Suns, it's like he only comes to play when he's playing us

one thing that might be differnet is also other teams not respecting suns as much as they used to, taking maybe suns more lightly than before.. can only work in favour of the suns, of course

agree re: kenny smith, and to be honest, the last 2-3 years he has been spot on

last year i disagreed with him becuase he said that the spurs would win it all and that the suns were the second best team but that we wouldnt get past the spurs because the spurs have all the 1%ers that a veteran team needs.

Now whilst i still dont think the way we were eliminated was fair, he was right...... lets hope he is right again this year

I would bet you every single contender in the NBA is watching to what is happening with Phoenix right now. It is one of the most interesting 'experiments' in NBA history. If the Suns come out of the West as strong as they've been looking, nobody will be 'caught by surprise' come playoff time.
