I don't think it will be an interesting matchup in the upcoming playoffs because Bynum is coming off a dislocated knee. He has to be careful or he will blow his knee out again. When a athlete has a major knee injury they tend to have recurring knee injuries.

Was a punk move by Bynum. Lucky Shaq didn't decapitate him.

Bynum's played maybe 20 games of good basketball his entire career; I'm not too worried about him coming back rusty, especially after a knee injury.

Bynum nor Dwight will ever be the imposing physical stature Shaq is and was. Talented yes, but far from the most truly physically gifted specimen to ever play the center position.
Shaq was just too much of a good combination of sheer power, athleticism, good foot-work, mobility and great hands which also gave him a nice touch around the rim.
Please dont hype this whatsoever, its already in our favor...

If this was Shaq prime vs. Bynum prime, Shaq would probably make Bynum cry. But Bynum has played really well this season, and he's also youthier than Shaq by 10+ years, so I think it will be a little closer than expected. Hope Shaq shuts him up.
I agree that was a big time punk move.

Agree with you Chrice ^
Underestimate Bynum at your peril (IF he comes back)... Shaq gets 2 fouls in the first 4 minutes and Amare's left with Skinner next to him
Don't overlook Phil's ability to coach, nor his familiarity with Shaq's game

i rate bynum as a great young player and i dont underestimate him at all
that said, the longer it goes till his comeback, the happier I am about it all. Its not going to be easy fitting him back in

In a seven game series Bynum would be left sucking his thumb.
Shaq actually switches from Wheaties to Bynums for breakfast during the postseason.

Bynum should have gone to college and developed his game. He has the potential to be good but compared to Shaq at the same age there is no comparison.
Shaq was faster, stronger and more athletic and I am doubtful that Bynum will be the second coming of Shaq like some Lakers fans believe

It will be a good match up because Shaq is getting old. A young Shaq would obliterate Bynum but with Shaq nearing the end of his career, it will be close.
Bynum gets way too much hype though.

I agree that he gets too much hype. He has been solid, but he is never going to replace shaq. He doesnt have to now with Gasol and Kobe on this team at least.
I loved how shaq put the kid in his place. What a fool he is. The shaq dunk was much better than his spin move open dunk.
yes, shaq is old, but will own him if we meet him in the playoffs. You know big daddy will be pumped and ready to make phil, the lakers orgnization in general pay for trading him and not paying him.

This post is an official warning to Laker fans who intend to troll this thread. Don't troll. I will have no mercy on you.
regarding the topic... so hard to say with all the unexpected variables of health and age. Should be interesting though. I hope we get a chance to see it.
Good luck and good health

I think he is a good young player. And now that Gasol is there, he can take even more time to develop. I really look forward to a Suns -Lakers playoff series. Hi drama, legendary players, full intensity...ahh everything the playoffs are about. BTW had Amare dunked on Bynum yet? If so, who has a pic of it?

I really don't see Bynum having much of an impact in this years playoffs. If he was a veteran he could come back and fit in within a few weeks. I just don't think he has enough baskeball experience to adjust quickly especially when playoff intensity picks up. Like some have said he only began playing well this year and for abou 2 months? I could be wrong about this but that would be my bet.

Hopefully we will get to find out. I would love to play you guys in round 2. I 'm just hoping you guys arent underestimating Bynum. I like Shaq, but to ask him to bring it 7 games straight maybe to much.
