Gordon Giricek

I have no idea how long was his contract with Phoenix, but how much do you think he'll get in the open market if he become a FA this summer? I know that if he ended his season in Philadelphia, the highest he could've gotten was like.. the minimum. But he's having a productive season in Phoenix and i think other teams will be willing to pay him more. But what would be the ideal contract for someone like Giricek at this point of his career?

I don't know but for a spot-up shooter (and fairly good fast-breaker) there aren't many better places to be in the NBA than Phoenix, especially with Shaq and Amare drawing defenders. Hope he stays.

I hope like hell he likes it here and signs for what Pike did a couple of years back, something like $3m over 2 years - the vet min. I'd offer him a part of the MLE, something like $5m over 3 years...he's shown he can be very useful here and contribute a lot more than the other vet FAs such as Jumaine Jones and Jalen Rose did...Let's hope there's no mess like when TT left and we should have just ponied up the extra couple of mill...

I hope he stays. He has been an awesome pickup.

However MACE, if it came down to $, I would gladly let him walk. He has been a great pickup, but not on the level of TT.

I higlhly doubt there will be another TT situation. After all, Giricek is just a good swingman who has never had a lot of buzz around the league. TT has always been overrated (although very talented) and when people saw what he did here, everyone jumped on his bandwagon again. Don't think that will happen with a guard who, after all, is pretty average. What can he get in the open market? No more than half the MLE. And I think he could accept less if he's happy here.

A lot of players would fit the Suns system well, its a very shooter friendly system. If we don't retain Giricek its not the worst thing in the world, as long as Kerr goes to work. It would be refreshing to get a guy that can shoot 3s and play D, I mean athletic D.

Unless he hits a game-tying three in an elimination game to send it to OT :)

I still am not sold on him, I've seen so many dumb descisions by him and he is average defensively

That sad I'd like him for the vets min

According to hoopshype.com (only source I could find) he'll get about $300 thousand from the Suns this season and I think about $4 mil total (what the sixers owe him, according to hoopshype minus what the Suns pay him).

Considering his effectiveness as a Sun and the fact that the Suns are his 5th team in 6 seasons, i honestly think its The Suns or back to Europe for him.

I'd be really suprised to see a team offer him more then Suns do and him sign there. There really aren't too many teams that could use a guy like Gordo as effectively as the Suns do.

I'm glad you like Gira. We were insanely frustrated with his quick shots and bad decision-making. Those things aren't as big a deal in Phoenix, though (not an insult). In fact, quick shots are sort of encouraged to a degree. Plus, since you guys are a team that seems to focus on offense from the second unit, rather than defense, he appears to be an excellent fit for you.

Personally, I always liked him, but I'm also glad he's gone. I hope the arrangement between he and the Suns continues to work for both sides.

I agree with chrbal. I think other coaches/gms know that he is benefitting from the Suns system. Also, factor in that Gordon has been playing diminished roles on his prior teams, it makes me think he'll want to stay here just for the PT alone. I don't know very many coaches that would let a guy like Gordon run isolation plays, let alone handle the ball has much as D'antoni has.

I bet he will get a a 2-3 year at 2.5mill.

I would like Giricek to stay, but I don't think we have to overpay him. He is replaceable...

And I want our ATL pick-player to have some PT, too. Maybe even DJ Strawberry.

Another question: If DA was to be fired, would another coach play a 10-man rotation with this squad?

I'd really like to hear about this from people who know more than I, but really, we have a pretty deep team...

Now that the season is over.

1. Do you think the Suns will resign Giricek?

2. How much do you think the Suns will offer Giricek?

3. How much do you think OTHER TEAMS will offer Giricek?

I highly doubt somebody will offer Giricek more than the veteran minumum. He is not worth 5 million $ (the MLE) so I guess he'll stay here for the vet minumum.

I'd offer him a Pike deal, he's clearly worth more than the vet min but as others have said I dont see him getting more than that
