Seeing as now we know that we will be getting the 15th pick this year from Atlanta, I've looked at quite a few mock drafts and I see a couple of guys that I think would flourish here in Phoenix, but they are projected between 10-13. So, that got me to thinking about possible ways of trading up to get one of them.

My favorite, although doesn't fill a major need for the Suns right now, especially since we traded for Shaq, and that is JaVale McGee out of Nevada. NBADraft.net has him being compared to Andrew Bynum/Patrick O'Bryant. I personally don't see him as comparable to either of those players. I see him more in comparison to Rasheed Wallace with minor comparison to Dirk Nowitski. He's got great athleticism, great hands, a nose for the boards, great help defense, and like Rasheed, a high release on his shot and range out to the 3. However the big knock on him right now is he needs to gain about 30-45 lbs since he's 7'0 237.

Most mock drafts have McGee going to Indiana @ 11. So that got me to thinking of a deal that might entice Indiana. The trade would net us both a great center prospect to set next to Amare and another streaky shooter, yet above average PG to back-up Nash.

The second guy I like is Nicholas Batum from France (Diaw would help with the transition for him). YOUNG. He has a great looking shot, lots of athleticism, good passing and quickness. The knock on him is his youth and his weight as he is 6'8" 210. NBADraft.net has his compared to Rudy Gay, which would be awesome, but I don't see that his shot is that good. I compare him more to Tayshaun Prince. Long, athletic, range out to the 3 and does a little of everything. Most mocks have him going to Sacramento @ 12. He would be great in the future as our starting SF when Hill is gone.

Trade 2 **** #15 pick, Barbosa, and Bell for #12, Salmons and one of Udrih/Douby/Garcia)

either trade would net us one of those 2 and would give us great pieces for the future.

Barbososo and # 15 would be TWO great pieces for the future.

McGee is not worth trading up to get. He is nice offensively but his defense is bad. It may be because he is underweight but he is such a risk that I would not want to trade up for him. If he is Best player available at 15, I would have no problems taking him.

As for Batum, we have discussed him to death in our draft threads. I like him.

Trading up to 11 of 12 is not hard from 15. As long as they can get who they were looking for, it only takes a little money.

If no trades are made to replace a player for a TE, I think the strong presumption will be the SUNS pick a international player. That is, the selection will dictated by salary considerations and not need.

Yes, Tinsley is a bit expensive and a slight downgrade from Barbosa, but they have similar games, but with Tinsley is a better passer. The reason I threw Tinsley as returning to the Suns in the Deal is because he would compliment the 2nd team better than Barbosa does, and would lessen the wear and tear on Nash then next couple of years. Where do you get this from? That's one of his biggest strengths. IMO all his strengths (athleticism, rebounding, DEFENSE, shot blocking, passing) are comparable to what Amare's was coming into the draft. He would be the perfect Shaq replacement and compliment to Amare on the weak side. His only knocks are his weight 9could use another 20+ lbs for the NBA, and the fact that he gets frustrated when he doesn't get calls his way and it hurts his game. Again similar to Amare when he gets fouls called against him and his game suffers (at least his first couple of years, not as much now).

He is way too weak to guard the post. He needs at least another 30-40 pounds to be able to keep up in the post. He has the tools (if he bulks up) to be good defense. What I read is that he bites easily on fakes (although MD will probably fix that because his whole defensive involves not biting on fakes). If he puts the effort, he can be great.

Maybe you have seen more of him and I would love to get some videos if you have any. I live all the way in NY so getting games from the West are difficult for me. He intrigues me a lot so I would like to see more. I specifically want to compare him to Kosta Koufos (who is one of my favorite prospects despite the fact he goes to OSU).
