I woke up this morning, and their seems to be a big burden lifted off me. I started trying to think why am I looking at the Phx Suns box score and reading the recap and not thinking what if?

I realize then that SA has placed such a shadow over this decade of the Suns and their play. That their is no legacy beyond Nash 2 MVPs. and the pace of the NBA moving faster.
Everyone will think of the Suns through history as the little (Team) train that couldnt!

I realize this team is strictly entertainment.
They run,
They dunk,
They pass,
Their unselfish,
They are good looking,
They are funny,
They have great personalities for TV.
They have a plethora of adjectives to describe them and their play, but no matter what from this year forward every description of them will start and end with SA domination of them.

True there are a couple things that SA cannot take away. Steves 2 MVPs, Amares statistical dominance, and possibly Americas love for the Suns. In the end however, the Suns will be talked about from a historical standpoint as merely another team that SA dominated. No sentence can begin to touch them as a team with the word great merely because it would fall in the shadows of SA success over them.

2007 aw yes, I know (The ref) that bet against the Suns, and dont think for a moment he didnt. Ask any lawyer and youll know that the lawsuits against Las Vegas, the NBA, wouldve opened a pandoras box for all sports. Even so even if he was part of 1 game, and the commissioner decides to suspend Amare and Diaw for another game. Remember this is still an excuse when history looks back on it. Its still SA dominating the Suns another year.

The Suns shines bright all year long here in the desert but when the Spurs come to town it simply eclipses everything thats right about the Suns with their dominance of Suns.
I realize like many Suns fans there has been a huge burden lifted from us. We must understand the Suns were built as entertainment and leave it at that. If you dream they are a championship type team, then you are just that dreaming.


Maybe the funniest thing many Suns fans fell in a trap of is wanting the Spurs in the first round.
Well many of you got what you wanted, many of you got more than you bargained for.

The New Fan Look on the Suns:
I love basketball I watch the games in the NBA, Collegiate level, and yes sometimes at the local high school by my house.

I love to watch players like Amare dunk, (shallow as that sounds) its a part of the game that Amare has that just shows sheer strength and power. I love that stuff!

I love to watch Steve Nash make passes that Ive never ever seen point guards make. Fans of Phoenix truly get over a 82 game schedule some of the most beautifully executed play the game has ever known.

I love to listen to Shaq while his is content in Phoenix, funny and loveable guy that actually is much better than advertised!

I "sometimes" relate to the poor calls Mike D feels happen throughout the game and wonder why do the officials hate on us soo much.


Mike D - I have never been hard on him until this season this series. Its all because he is making the exact same mistakes he has for years. My problem with him is now my wife even makes good arguments against him. She just started watching basketball 4 years ago....
She felt Mike Shouldve yanked everyone off the court in the 3rd quarter and actually yelled at them like he is going to lose his job and they are going to lose something special if they dont get it together. I starred at the TV and realized she understands whats at stake more than him.


Im no longer on this emotional rollercoaster for anything more than entertainment.
I know just like a rollercoaster, theirs someone or something controlling the ride and it is going to end right before I puke!

Man...you summed it all up. This is an emotional rollercoaster. I have wanted nothing but to see the Suns hoist the Trophy for 20+ years. I now just hope to see it happen before I die.

It is kinda getting fun. This year was really the only chance we have with this team. NO and LA are gonna be way too tough next year. Nash is obviously falling off.

So now we get to see our team break down and rebuild. We've all been through this before though

Amen, as always, great take on the suns. I have felt like this the whole season. There were times I just did nto want to open my eyes and therefore did not watch the game(s). sometimes, my schedule conflicted with game times.

This team is a great show for 82 games, but SA will be our other curse. MD is not a playoff coach either.

Do what the Spurs did back in the late 90's. After having their heads handed to them by the Jazz in the late 90's -- they were the the Jazz's bitches - they modeled their team after the Jazz. Pick and Roll - half court D - low post big man to play inside/ outside BB and run when the opportunity presents itself. Of course if helped to get Duncan but that's not the point. Being entertaining - and Nash and Amare are two of my favorites players to watch - isn't going to win championships IMO. Jazz of the 90's and Spurs lately style of play gets you deep and into the Finals.

Shaq is a step in the right direction but some of your role players need some serious BB IQ upgrade.

Where the hell is Barbosa?

Diaw taking on Duncan in the low post several plays in a row?

Forgetting that Amare had destroyed the Spurs in the 1st half and not get the ball on a regular basis in the 3rd?

Barbosa is the most overrated 6th man winner in league history. Pay any attention to him on defense and play physical and he disappears.

It's great that you guys modeled your franchise after the Jazz, but finding a Duncan or Malone isn't exactly the easiest thing to do. Amare might be as good offensively, but he's not even close on the defensive end. Malone was an extremely underrated defender.

Diaw is actually a better post defender than Amare.

I love Barbs but seriously..where has he been so far?

And finally someone that has noticed that Diaw is a better low post defender then Amare. He knows how to put a body on his man and make them work for the shot instead of Amare's afraid to make any contact approach. If we could put Diaw's defense into Amares body we'd be set.

A post we all can relate too... BUT

The series ain't over lets just win some damn games and cheer for our team.

Throw away all your little epiphanies, sour grapes, blue balls whatever you got and just hope for the best. We can do all this recalling and self examination of the team when Nash retires and the team is blown to bits.... but for now we are trying to win a championship.

And wait for Barbosa to drop 25 on the Spurs...that's the frustrating thing - he has it in him, it's just a coin toss whether he'll get it together.

IMO we need a guy like Manu....why don't we try and get Diamintides - he's a BIG point with a defensive mentality, and though his shot pales to Manu, he's got the toughness and athleticism to provide what we need from our backup PG/SG off the bench

Suns have to get more balanced and tougher as a team. Regardless of how appealing and entertaining to the general fan, sport sfan, I think it'd be a fresh approach to the franchise.
