Watch the difference...The Spurs won't blow GM3 lead

Post#1 » by Christine-In-AZ » Sat Apr 26, 2008 4:05 am

The Spurs have the cushion...they can even split, but just watch how much better equiped, how focused they are. They won't blow a nice lead.

I'm still blown away how most of the National press and of course the local yokels wrote off the Spurs....idiots! All of you.

I told you on 4/19-

San Antonio over Phoenix in 5...

...Yes, I'll admit I tend to side on pessimism, but I really do think SA is going to win.

-I think the Spurs are every bit as good as in the last few years
-Spurs late season slump was more a reflection of the West's seedings not being very important 2 thru 7...uninspired to get it in gear.
-I believe the Spurs (strangely enough) are the ones seeking retribution, because so many have voiced doubt that they would've beat the Suns last year without help
-The Spurs+Home court adv ...that's a real big deal to me!
-the Spurs are so deep...and I just think they're really good.

-I just don't feel the Suns have truly put all the parts in place...prone to vapor locks on offense. I see some Suns final scores in the low 80's or even 70's
-Hill is hurt and I'm afraid he is going to play no matter what ...that is not good.
-Loose balls...the Suns are incredibly bad on 50-50 balls. Marion was great at those.
-Bell just doesn't seem quite the same and Barbosa seems to have suffered the most from the Shaq trade.
-apart from Nash, Shaq and Bell it doesn't feel to me like there is a deep hunger for the title

I hope I'm dead wrong about all of this and the Suns kick butt, I just don't see that happening at all.

The Spurs duped all of you!

I disagree that we don't have the parts in place. This team is more than capable of beating the Spurs. We are definitely good enough, but on any given night, we are lucky to have more than 2 players step up. Everyone else steps down. A lot of our guys are becoming confidence players, and will only get hot if shots are falling, absolute zero freezing when they start missing. How they deal with it is the problem. Like the last game, Amare hot in the first half, no show in the second half. Amare needs to get mad. Right now the players aren't showing they want it enough. No urgency whatsoever.

Ultimately, it comes down to who can penetrate --- we dont have any players who can drive and penetrate...other than Barbosa, who is as inconsisistent as they come.

They deserved it.

They showed they're much stronger and more poised to win this. Yet another year where they yank our hearts out and leave us to die.

No excuses this time, reffing was perfectly fine, no cheap plays...they really earned it, and props to San Antonio. I still hate them, though.

Because the San Antonio Spurs are more professional then the Suns...we are weak! We should lose!

We showed it. No desire, passion, anything.

I hate them because they always 'bust' us as D'Antoni thought we would do tonight. Nice job, Mike. Bulletin material for the defending champs..they're not a team that will take that.

Well, I would say this is the results of a closed mindedness of our coach.

He has said he is not in the business of developing players. Idiot, He does not coach with passion. This team plays with no heart, and no focus. They should have mailed it in.

Suns can not hold a lead. You watch what a good coach does, how his players play for him and respond. We don

No, the jazz made it to the finials, we are the Kings, and the spurs are the lakers who kept denying them a chance. They never got past the conf final.

We have the best depth we have ever had. Remember the stupid excusses MD would use saying how bad our bench is? We have 5 guys I think that can give good mins. When players suck, bench there ass and try something else, MD does not do that. Hes stubborn and will never learn.

In response to Pidi and the guy who posted below him lets think about it shortly....

If we were down, lets say...20, and Nash and Amare and Bell were all just cold as Ice making crap and he kept them in, you would be mad. But, if he put in lets say.... DJ, Pike, and Skinner to replace them because we have some decent bench guys and we end up losing by 25-30 then guess what? You hate the coach even more.

I see it this way...Hes damned if he does and damned if he does not...Either way, there is going to be some fan or media person who is going to say "WTF was the coach thinking on either A) not subbing his guys in or B) Why did he sub those guys in!? ....

So , you people who dont know a thing or 2 about coaching think this...Coach D sees these guys play EVERY single day . . . He knows how good they are and are not...They have trouble scoring during scrap minutes...What makes you think they are going to score against the starting 5 of the Spurs...THEY ARENT! As much as I would love to say "They want it more cause they never play and will dig deeper" its not going to happen. So get over it.

Sadly, Coach D will be fired this year im thinking...But its not his coaching...You cant coach better "D" its all about wanting it more...People all play D pretty well, its just they get way lazy and dont want to. Oh well.

What happens if a Spur player doesn't play D? Answer: He doesn't play. Very simple really.

In the business world, a CEO is responsible for the performance of his company.

In the sports world, a coach is responsible for the performance of his team.

In the business world, a CEO is canned if the business does not perform to the satisfaction of shareholders.

I don't understand why it should be any different in the sports world. A coach sets the tone for his team. When he is unable to motivate his team to win, he is ultimately responsible and must accept the consequences.
Suns fan during the KJ era (Coliseum), through the Barkley era (Am West Arena), and now the Nash era (US Airways Arena)!
