The Phoenix Suns State of the Union address:

Post#1 » by Amen316 » Wed Apr 30, 2008 7:06 am

According to SI.com the Phoenix Suns have let it be known they are firing Mike Dantoni. While some of the worst bandwagon fans in the history of Phoenix Sports may be happy. They dont fully understand the consequences nor do they get just what a classless move on the part of Phoenix Management to leak this before the Suns plane even gets back to Phoenix.

The best part is ownership over the last two years is taking no responsibility themselves for this action. Remember Mike on Shaqs initial appearance in Phoenix. He kept saying he liked the team the way it was. Im sure if Kerr wouldve said we are bringing Hack a SHaq to Phoenix would ultimately cost him his job... He wouldnt have been on board...

Sarver feel free to sell off more of the Suns future and btw dont be surprised to one day see Phoenix lose this team much as Seattle has had happen to them.
This owner is UofA alumni that would probably stick a knife in the Phoenix fan base worse than any Wildcat in the history of the 2 schools.

Maybe I went off on a tangent, chased a wild rabbit, but the fact is this new ownership is very unpredictable without direction. They are full of finger pointing and patting themselves on the back.
They said the trade for Shaq would make Kerr look like a genius or an idiot. Guess what they used this very trade to beat us in the playoffs.. Guess what that makes you Mr.Kerr?

Robert Sarver take your front row seats and leave please you obviously subscribe to the daily I can do better than the people around me paper.
You think Mike D is less valuable than whom? Who are you going to get with more value than Mike?

AVery Johnson...lol thats not this teams style!
George Karl ... His Denver team quit on him and fights inside.
Mark Iavaroni....Word has it he prepared his team worse than any coach in recent memory.
Isiah Thomas... Lol No one is that big an idiot....are they?
UofA .... alumni that would do it cause we know they are qualified....

Truth is the Phoenix SUns and many of its fans failed to weigh the asset value of Mike and his system..
TNT says time to go fishing...
SI.com might as well say GUT the team since your fishing!

The fact you tried to trade A.Stoudemire for freaking Marvin Williams oof the Atlanta Hawks shows us you have no clue the value of players we have...

The fact you traded Kurt thomas and a first round draft pick just so someone would take him... Shows you have no clue the value of players we have

The fact that teams will line up to grab Mike D ... Shows you have no clue the value of the coach we have..

The fact that you have already made this decision... SHows you have no pulse on what the fans of Phoenix really wants.

:banghead: I have a little of this going on at them moment because of the series itself, but to add Mike is fired really leaves nothing but the color red that I see... good luck Mike Im sure youll handle the press conference with dignity and grace making all of Phoenix seem like idiots for lettting you go...

Already miss the way the Phoenix Suns played... Moreso how much I enjoyed watching them play...Its like History and the end of a great book has just rode into the sunset!

I have a VERY hard time believing that Iavaroni has prepared his team poorly. That guy worked harder than anyone I know preparing himself when he was coaching the Suns. Why wouldn't that work ethic translate to preparing his players? Isn't that an indictment of the players they have in Memphis? It's not like they were a well prepared bunch prior to his arrival.

I'm worried that there may have been some tampering with Nash as well. Nash and D'Antoni have a great relationship and maybe Nash didnt have his head in the game since their was so much turmoil behind the scenes.

My best bet is we get Pay Riley. Since he's a proven winner... I'm pretty sure we will end up signing Alonzo Mourning in the process.

I'm reall really really worried with Nashs situation now since D'Ant is gone.

Iavoroni - Not to have you only want to remark on this but that has been said alot. His team wasnt ever prepared to play defense. At times this team was playing pickup basketball on a professional stage.
Some people are great assistance and very below average coaches..

Its no shame he didnt cut it as a head coach, that is a giant step

^There's zero chance Riley comes here - not after the bridges burned between he and Shaq

It'll be Avery (Kerr's old team-mate remember who KNOWS the Spurs) or Carlisle

I have something similar to your post, and to think that the ownership and FO made thos idiotic moves shows how stupid they are. If he quits, or is fired, I will be pissed. Give it some time at least before you can his ass.

Blame to me goes to all, players, coach's, and the FO/owner

In the end it's all business... Riley might come to phx. Avery is a... decent choice I guess.

What about Don Nelson if he leaves Golden State? He could get a great system here.

If this is true. I'm ashamed of being a fan of this classless organization and Kerr proves he is the azz clown I believe he is.

How dare they make it sound like it was entirely Mike's fault? Pathetic.

EDIT: if we get Karl, I'll stop watching the Suns until he's gone.

Please no Avery. Highly over rated coach. Nobody but D'Antoni please. He is just going to be the scape goat.

Pat Riley? Get your head out of your past-lovin' arse. It's stupid move soley from the fact as to how he runs practices. We've get a lot of veterans on this team who couldn't make it thru a year long session of the kind of practices that man runs. Look at what happened to Shaq while he was there and with him on the roster for the next 2 years, you've got to be mindful of that situation.

Most of the blame of where the Suns are at is because of the coach.

Why use draft picks? Coach doesnt want to develop players or a bench. He likes veterans. Of course he will keep some veterans sitting on the bench cause he cant be bothered to figure out how to use them. Unless the Suns have a 30 point lead with 3 minutes left in the game. Even then he still might let them sit. Rookies? Who needs em. So lets just make sure the big money is used on a handful of folks he likes and pray they never have off games or get injured.

D'antoni's pre/post/during season philosophy - "Its not our fault". Why tweak and figure out what they can do better when D'antoni is convinced the only reason for playoff exits is that some external force is holding them back. We're always the best team is his mantra. And when there are no real or perceived outside excuses to factor in what does he say? "They didnt beat us. We beat ourselves. Of course I dont know why but its probably because we just didnt make enough shots."

As it was said last night "Luck favors the prepared man". So when Coach starts mentioning how the breaks didnt go their way just think of them as not being prepared.
