Would Phoenix do this trade?

MMiller to Phoenix for #15 + TPE (Kurt Thomas)

Phoenix get a guy who will easily average 50ppg playing alongside Nash and Memphis draft Chase Budinger and sign Josh Smith (all in a perfect world...)

hmmmm

Extremely tempting...

To be honest I'd do it only if we could follow it up with a deal like Jack/Blake + #13 for Barbosa

Really want some youth in this team

If money weren't an issue, I might do it, because I think this team needs to go into win now or blow it up mode. The only problem is that money is an issue. Rumors were that we passed up the opportunity to grab Artest with the same package, because we didn't want to pay tax...kinda puts things into perspective doesn't it? I'd prefer a guy like Artest, because one of our biggest holes right now is defending athletic forwards. Don't know if Miller would be enough to get us over the proverbial "hump," but any improvement is better than nothing if we're still looking to contend.

if i was suns GM and i was offered this trade with no need to worry about money the answer would be HELL YES

we are trying to win now, the 15 pick wont help us anywhere near as much as miller

quite frankly, even though i think diaw is better than miller, i would trade diaw for MM purely because i think we need a 3 point shooting threat at starting SF spot

Moneywise the Suns FO will not do it unless Memphis absorbs Diaw's contract.

Diaw + 15th pick for Miller + Lowry (or 28th pick - Jawai, Hardin or Dorsey)

I really like the combinations of deals here

Shaq/Diaw (yip Diaw, backup C)
Amare/Skinner/Jawai
MMiller/Diaw/Tucker/#13 - Anthony/Batum/DGreene
Bell/GG/
Nash/Jack/DJ

Very solid, they can go fast with Diaw-Amare-MMiller-Bell-Nash and surround Diaw with outside shooters

Have youth with #13, DJ, Jack and Tucker

^ Love it except that I doubt Kerr allow such line-up with Diaw at C. Coach D'Antoni is the only one who believes Diaw should play C.

Think KT's TE expired at end of season?

I think it expires in July or Aug.

I think Sarver lets it go and saves the money.

First of all, I would LOVE to have MM here. We need that type of player on this team with nash, Amare and Shaq. We his a very good shooter, can handle the ball, good size and smart bball IQ. Yeah, his D is not the greatest, but we still have Hill. To me, he showed that he is a good defender still when MD is not over using his ass. Artest is a great defender, but I think with the players we have, we need that 3 pt specialist in Miller.

so, we have to trade Diaw because there is no way Sarver take on millers contract.

So if we can do a diaw trade, and keep the pick I am happy. I do not want us to lose our pick, or go further down the draft. We need some YOUTH on this team for the future.

Maybe a 3 way trade with phx, nyk, and the grizz.

--- It wasn't until this last season that I saw how much this team needed the threat of credible 3-pt shooters. Miller would be a great add for us, as we've beaten to death many times in different threads.
Maybe a deal with TO for Kapono, and Anthony Parker, both of whom can shoot 3s. Parker is a tough defender and a great team guy heading into the last year of a contact.
Kapono is perhaps overpaid but got little time the last half of the season and BC might be willing to move him.

The best rotation I could think of is the following.

Nash/Jack/Strawberry
Bell/GG/Strawberry
Miller/Hill/Tucker
Amare/Jawai (28th)
Shaq/Speights (13th)

Jack / Frye / 13th for Barbosa
Miller + 28th for Diaw + 15th

Im getting addicted to Speights lately.

Barbosa and Tucker to MEM for Miller.

Diaw to NY for Richardson and Lee.

Draft Brandon Rush with #15.

PG - Nash/Strawberry
SG - Bell/Giriceck/Rush
SF - Hill/Miller/Richardson
PF - Stoudemire/Lee
C - O'Neal/Skinner

That's a solid 12.

If Blazers ring with the offer of #13 and Blake OR Jack for Barbosa.

And the Suns have a negotiation with Grizzlies with the no.15th + Trade Exemption for Mike Miller.

I would be considered the worst GM if I do not pull that trigger.

You lose Barbosa's 3pters but makes up about 150% of it with Mike Miller. You also have a legit forward to play with Hill and Diaw. Obviously Diaw will get most of his minutes playing backup for Stoudemire. You can also reduce Hill's minutes to about 25~26 and save him for second half, like how Mavs use Stackhouse. Diaw will also get minutes playing along side Stoudemire as center.

The 13th pick, you use it to draft Speighs/McGee/Randolph/Love, basically a BIG BODY. Who can play legit minutes especially when O'Neal is out resting his injuries (it'll happen, he will need to save himself for the playoffs).

Jack or Blake, I prefer Jack as he can matchup better with the quicker points in the west. That should solve the Suns backup PG for now, and worry about it when Nash retires or become a backup himself.

28th, draft a wing, this is basically a bonus pick. I'd try to get Rush or any SG/SF who have fallen this far. Even another big man, couldnt hurt at this point.

Tucker and Strawberry will get minutes at the 1/2 spots. Giricek will probably sign to another team, but if not, you are deeper at the 2/3 spot.

Projected lineup:

C: O'Neal
PF: Stoudemire
SF: Miller
SG: Bell
PG: Nash

SF/PF: Diaw
SF: Hill
PG: Jack
SG: Giricek
SG: Tucker
PG: Strawberry
C: No.13
SG/SF/PF: No.28

A log jam in the 2/3 spot, probably would have to send Tucker or not re-sign Giricek if he ask for too much than what Sarver is willing to offer.

^^^ I like that a lot. Still we remain weak at the wings defensively

But overall i'd be reallllllly happy if that happened

I was not impressed with Speights this past year. When I watched Florida, he did not stand out to me at all on the court.

I would love to see miller. But I want to see some youth on this team. I want to see a wing if we do not trade for a 3. But I think we need to draft a big to learn behind Shaq for the next few years, and give him some rest.

I do not think Giri comes back. I like Rush, but not at #15. Also, there is no way our owner takes on Millers contract and keep Diaw. It does not add up for the penny pincher.

The more I think about my previous post the less I like it. I have been in favor of drafting someone at center in order for them to learn and develop under O'Neal. We have him for two more years, might as well use him and his experience.

I just hope that the Suns do something productive...

Sun Scorched, I see your point. I do want that big man, but all the peices have to fall into place. I am not for sure Kerr will take a big at 15. We need a 3, and a 1. If we do not get Giri and Skinner back at a decent price, we might have another hole at 2 (depending on what happens to Diaw and barbs)

I do like the line up and trade to get fry and jack and the #13 pick. hell, too bad we gave bent over to get rid of KT. Man, that hurts.

That would be amazing if that happened but I doubt MEM or NY do those trades. We'd at least have to give up the 15.

Mr. Sun wrote:Think KT's TE expired at end of season?

We have 3 TPE's (expire after 1 year of being acquired) that are explained below:

The KT TPE (for $8,091,189) expires 19 Jul 2008.

The James Jones TPE ($2,900,000) that expires on 28 Jun 2008. This one will expire with no use because free agency doesn't start till 1 July 2008.

The Marcus Banks TPE (of $$3,996,207) that expires 5 Feb 2009. The trade of Marion for Shaq was that by itself. Miami traded for Banks in a seperate deal and the Suns received this TPE.
