Suns announce affiliation with Iowa Energy

The Phoenix Suns have a new teammate, who brings a lot of energy to the court.

The NBA Development League announced its NBA affiliations for the 2008-09 season on Tuesday, and the Suns and Chicago Bulls have both been partnered with the Iowa Energy. Suns GM Steve Kerr traveled to Iowa this past D-League season and came away impressed with the club and all it has to offer its affiliates.

just being an affiliate means that they can send their players to that team. it doesn't really affect the suns in any way.

Yeah I know that but it does affect the development of our young players. They get to work with the coaching staff so we would want a good staff there. The Lakers have their own affiliate that teaches the triangle to players so they can develop a bench to knows Phil Jackson's system. Utah also has their own affiliate which teaches Jerry Sloan's type system. I am just interested in why we had to move to Iowa considering we have been with the Thunderbirds. Also don't they usually announce all the affiliations at once? I would like to know more about the Energy's system.

I have been meaning to make it to a Ft. Worth Flyers game. I would be interested in gaining traction with some of the D-league teams.

I think they stream the games live or recorded... maybe I'm wrong.
