So, we all know we need a wing and if we trade barbosa, which my trade suggests we will, a backup sg. We get the perfect wing and a servicable backup that can give us another 3mil expiring in 2010
We trade:
Barbosa
Get:
Rasual Butler (3.6mil expiring in 2010)
Julian Wright (WOOOOOOO)
Anyone like the idea? we may have to throw in a future 2nd or cash but that seems like a plausable trade, especially if we get giriceck and skinner back and sign lue. Leaves us with:
Nash/Lue/Strawberry
Bell/Giriceck/Tucker/Strawberry
Hill/Wright/Tucker
Stoudemire/Skinner/Lopez
Shaq/Lopez/Skinner
We get a GOOD, if not GREAT, NBA backup for Hill. (he avgd 4PPG, 2RPG, 0.7APG on 53%FG and 42%3PT). If we give him the 25-30mpg, he could easily be a 14-5-1.5 guy on 50%FG and 40%3PT.
We get the expiring in Butler who can be servicable if Bell goes down.
Anyone like this?

I like how you make a trade for Butler and then leave him off the lineups/depth chart. And Rasul Butler and Wright...for Barbosa? No, f'n way.

I'd prefer
Mo Pete
Pargo (re-signed $10m for 3 years)
for
Barbs
Tucker
Shaq/Skinner/Lopez
Amare/Diaw
Mo/Hill
Bell/DJ
Nash/Pargo/Dragic
I'd start Mo, with Shaq in there we really need that other 3 point shooter to spread the floor, not to mention Hill could do with the rest. They'd likely split the mins 24-24 anyway

i like pargo. having pargo is definitely realitic to limit nash minutes even number of games.. but its stupid move for new orleans to trade 2 of their guys that played quality role on their playoff run last season.

Lol, exactly my point. Yeah it would be a steal for us, but why for any reason would NO do this? Firstly, Mo-Pete is too old, I prefer young players. Julian Wright IS a good 3PT shooter, look @ his %. If we needed a 3pt shooter so bad we could just sign JJ though.. he will come back to us for the championship. Anyways, back on topic, why would they loose mo-pete , their best perimiter defender after Paul, and give up Pargo to trade him away too. Thats insane. In my deal, they dump a bad contract (not so bad but decently horrible) in Rasual Butler, and dont give up that big a piecfe in Wright (he barely got ANY burn last season, therefore the low numbers)

Ok, don't talk 3pt % when they only attempted 24 shots this past year. Wrights numbers are skewed, and you should not use them. When you take more shots from 3pt land, usually, the percentage goes down. So that argument is thrown out the window. Hes not a guy that is going to avg over 40% when he gets 30 mins a game.
Second of all, I am not as big of a fan of this trade.

I dont think we ought to make any GD trades until mid season.
Both Barbososo's and Doris' value can only get higher with good minutes and player improvement. I'd rather bank on that, than the ability of the front orfice to pull a big foam rabbit out of a big foam hat in some kind of trade that gleans a back up PG. Both those cats have need to shed the 'One Hit Wonder' label and put out a productive season. If they do that, they are far more valuable than any realistic deal I have seen. Plus it sidesteps another potential hosing in tradeland.
Lie in this bed for a while and see how we sleep.

I don't understand the urge to dump Barbosa. He is young and still has a chance to improve. It's not like his salary is horrendous in NBA terms. He is perfect for what he is now (even if he doesn't improve); a 6th man that can come in and ignite the team. He is not a star and that's not how he he should be looked upon.

Thing is, i dont mind keeping barbs if he is going to try to improve, but his work ethic and his defence are a big red flag. Yes, he improved on offfense, but was that really HIM improving? he just fit in well into our offense and nash got him open shots which lead to higher % and more pts, but he didnt do much for himself. Boris has improved, but i hate his contract. id much rather dump Boris than barbosa, but no one seems to want him except NY, and i dont want anything to do with NY unless we get Lee back..
