Suns send Boris Diaw, Leandro Barbosa, and 2009 2nd round pick to Atlanta for Josh Smith (sign and trade)? Suns pick up Lue from FA and Darius Miles from FA for vet min.
PG - Nash, Lue, Strawberry
SG - Bell, Tucker
C - Shaq, Lopez
SF - Smith, Hill
PF - Amare, Skinner

This has already been proposed...ATL...I just don't see them making that deal simply because they could pay Smith what Diaw is getting (add $1m-$2m) and then spend Barbosa's money on Chill...
Not to mention Smith is worth more than that considering Diaw's deal

No offense but i always will think of Smith as a PF in this league unless he substantially improves his shooting. Hes more of a PF because a) he cant shoot b) he does most things PF's do c) he can play the PF position better than the SF because of the quickness he has that throws off opponents.
Only thing that goes agaisnt him playing the 4 is his size, hes about an inch or two shorter than he should be, but makes up for it with extreme potential. I doubt anybody gives up a STUD PF that can do EVERYTHING better than what they are getting, unless ofcourse they are sure he isnt staying with them. I dont want to see this guy playing here though, because he isnt what we need. He cant shoot, and if we played him at the 3, it doesnt provide the 3pt threat we need. Teams could ignore him that deep because STAT and SHAQ would take up all the post space and he would have none left to post up..

This deal is not going to happen, but lets just pretend for a moment that it did.
It is possible that you could play Amare, Shaq and Smith together.
Defensively, Smith is quick enought to guard SF's (from what little I have seen of him).
Offensively, Amare can step away from the basket to stretch the defense, leaving Smith to post up smaller SF's,
For most teams, Smith could never play SF, because he doesn't have the offensive skill set. But if you put him on team like the Suns or Mavs with Dirk, his inability to shoot doesn't become a detriment and could actually cause mitch match hell for opponents.
But, he isn't coming here any time soon.
