OT: Calling All For Destination Phoenix 2009
Hey Peeps,
Some of you may remember late last season, achilles and I were planning a trip to the U.S. well due to us sucking towards the end of the season and the realization that we could very well not go deep into the playoffs we decided to pull the plug.
It is time for a resurface.
Here is the deal. I thought we should get the ball rolling and start getting an itinerary together, feed off of each other for different deals and what not, so that when the time comes we could have the best time for the best rate. I myself may have a contact for us Aussie folk for a cheaper plane ticket.
Anyways, lets leave all that info to the people who are keen to take part. At this stage it is myself & SDU. I know MACE, KP, JM and achilles are either going at some point or have expressed interest.
So all in all if any of you are interested from any part of the world then drop me an e-mail drmeyer@adam.com.au
If we get enough people involved then we may just be able to hook something up with the Suns organization or something to that effect.
GET SOME NUTS!!!

Re: OT: Calling All For Destination Phoenix 2009
I have a hook up for tickets if the Suns' can't/won't hook you up.
Although, I am inclined to think if you are coming from AUS/NZ and other distant parts, that the Suns' will hook you up. I know they keep tickets in the club level and behind the baskets to give out as promotional incentives. My brother got tickets from them a few years back, i think it was Nash's first year here, after writing a letter and complaining that the games were being blacked out in Tucson.
Anyways, if the Suns' brass shows more signs of being cheap, let me know, and I will see what I can do.

Re: OT: Calling All For Destination Phoenix 2009
last time i was there, i tried many ways to get inside access to the players / stadium (such as begging, telling them ive come from australia, lying and saying i was a tv news reporter from australia doing a story on major league sports franchises etc) but i had no luck
BUT when i was at the suns pacers game sitting 3rd row, i was chatting to the cheerleader and told her i was over from australia and next time out, i got zoomed in on on the big screen as the "fan of the game" and ced ceballos told the crowd i was "all the way from down under just to watch the most exciting team in the NBA" and people cheered etc, so that was cool at least
at the next game i went to, i snuck my video camera in and have heaps of footage of the stuff you dont get on tv, so that was cool to me. I stayed out by the carpark entrance hoping to get some autographs, but diaw, nash barbs etc all stopped and said hi etc, the rest just drove on through
i was with my wife that trip and didnt want to drag her through waiting outside stadiums etc, but if im going with other die hard suns fans, then im sure i wont be hanging out there by myself
personally im keen to get over there for the December 28th Arizona Cardinals vs Seattle Seahawks NFL game, i would love to go to that stadium, the game might suck because its the last game of the season (no doubt we wont make playoffs
) but if i was to get there then, i would need to know what the best thing to do for NYE is though
the other thing is that i dont want to committ to a date for sure until we see the NBA schedule, that will determine alot of whether i personally do go in january or later in the season. (we may be on a 7 game road trip all january or something stupid?)
as far as other travels around the states goes, ive kinda been there done that for places like Grand Canyon, NYC, LA, so i wouldnt be too keen to do them again, but I may go to new york again and id like to go to vegas, so depending on what the other guys do i may either follow or dissappear to discover some other city on my own (any reccommendations?)

If you guys spend any time in the Northeast, I'll probably be able to make an appearance. I might be able to make it out to Phoenix, but that's a little less likely.

Sweet as, thanks heaps.
On that note, does anyone know an e-mail address and or postal address to contact the Suns?

With any luck if we organize something with a little notice for them then they may be inclined to do something for us?!?!?!

I'll be there with ya without a doubt man.

That NFL game sounds like a pretty good idea, although I'm gonna make you bring it up again once I get this e-mail out. haha. Even though they aren't either of my teams, I would still love to see an NFL game live.
Good point about the NBA schedule, but in essence all I am trying to do is get the ball rolling so we can try and find as much info out as possible.

Thing with L.A. is that we most likely pass through there on the way to Phoenix, so a day trip may be all that is in order?!?!?!? I am more keen on NYC and Vegas than L.A. anyways. But yeah still could be a deviation here and there, we don't need to live out of each others pockets, not unless you like that sort of thing.

Re: OT: Calling All For Destination Phoenix 2009
Well this trip for me is the springboard to my world trip, going across the USA for 6 months, then up to Canada to work for a year.
Will meet up with you guys in Sydney first for some brews, then to LA. I went to Disneyland when I was 12 but - and screw you all - I wanna go again! haha
Want to see Hollywood and all that jazz
I want to hit Vegas up to, that will be awesome.
Really keen for Boston and New York too...Mardi Gras in March I think SDU mentioned?
Being in Phoenix for All Star weekend would be awesome, obviously tickets would be too expensive but I think the town would go off!
I'll write up a fat letter kissing some serious Suns brass-arse, I reckon your title is spot on bro - we can say it's "Destination Phoenix 09". It would be perfect for a fanzone/Planet Orange segment, I mean how often would a pack of rabid Suns fans from the other side of the world go to the USA for the Suns? (obviously not JUST them, but damn close too it for me haha). I got a new camera so we could document the whole thing - SDU said a diary thing like Big Brother hahahaha, I can see it now ("That SDU is a tool. He seemed ok but he's a real douche. Anyway here he comes, gotta go, TASTIC over")
Who knows, they might give us a tour of the arena or something.
I'm pumped as hell, but it looks like March would be the best time for me...

Re: OT: Calling All For Destination Phoenix 2009
I spoke to Staff tonight and I think unfortunately I will have to give it a miss
January is too soon for me, im going to Townsville then and probably wont have enough holidays from work.
Plus with my fine and what not coming up probably wont have the funds to support such a trip.
This pains me I was sooo pumped for this trip.

MARCH!
The march towards March...
I got another mate who is keen but he'll have to sell his business and he's a bit reluctant selling it in Dec/Jan/Feb as thats summer = peak time for his mini golf course. He sounds keen to go in March/April, and is a huge ORL fan so might be good for a laugh haha
Release the damn schedule Stern!!

Add him into the e-mail list if you like MACE that way he is kept in on the loop.
I will send out an attachment when I get home alond with the e-mail to keep some important info in.
March could be an option for me, but it is all relying on one thing. Having said that I am more keen to do the Late December early January thing.

Yeah sure, Mardi Gras is were a bunch of, how shall I say, bat for the other team people get dressed, well in pretty much nothing and dance around............
oh wait, you meant the New Orleans version? Completely different form of entertainment.
BTW add your mate into the e-mail, if you haven't already. There will be an attachment with the next e-mail I send out so fill that out and make sure he gets it too. Make things a little easier to follow and where people are at.

FYI, Mardi Gras is always in February. This year, it's Feb. 24th. Keep in mind that Mardi Gras is the LAST day of festivities, so you'd need to get to New Orleans before then.
