Question about your Future

Hey guys, I'm from the bulls just wondering about your future as a team? in the infamous 2010 year i believe 4 out of the 5 starters on your team will be FAs. THe most notable FA being Stoudamire. You'll have Nash's contract along w/ Shaqs contract coming off the books, so you can potentially build around Amare and another big FA like Lebron. This all assumes these guys come to Phoenix of course. Im just wondering if Amare would be sticking around for a rebuild w/ his incentive being a **** ton of Cash coming his way. Or would he leave to join another team? Im just wondering how his loyalty is. I think it'd be great if he stayed and showed a lot of character, but i can't blame him for wanting to leave to be on a winning team again. Any insight would be great. Thanks!

Stoudemire, as it seems, is retiring with the suns. Shaq and Nash, atleast Nash, will be signed to vet minimum or like 5m/2yr contracts if they can plan, and with our health team, im sure they will be able to give 15 minutes a game and still be AMAZING bench guys and locker room guys at a small price. Adding in a piece like JJ or Wade seems more likely than LeBron though, because EVERYONE would be for LeBron, Wade, and Bosh. The only 2 likely to move are LeBron and Wade, and im guessing LeBron bolts to Brooklyn (Nets), and hoping Wade to phoenix. That would leave a solid lineup of:
Dragic
Wade
Tucker?
Stoudemire
Lopez
Only thing that needs a look is Tucker.

Is that just an assumption or do you have something backing that up? (not trying to be obnoxious, I'm genuinely curious)

I think it is safe to assume that Amare wants to redo his deal at the end of this next season. He made comments in April, about taking the summer off, because he was concerned about being able to sign a max contract because of his knees. If that is a true statement, he is going to ink the deal as soon as possible. And from all external viewpoints, Amare has a better relationship with ownership in Phoenix. He has leaned on Sarver heavily for guidance in investing his money for the future, and has partnered with Sarver on several investments, including the new "W" hotel in downtown Phoenix.
And I also feel like he more than others, ie. JJ and Marion, understand the NBA is a business. Trade talk and dollar signs don't seem to be personal insults to him, as it does to others and their fragile egos. Maybe, it is because he is more self assured in his abilties; and rightfully so.
Barring another knee injury this season, he will lock up a six year extension that will start in 2010 and begin at $20M; 6YR and $154,312,200 if my math and understanding of the cap are to be accurate. Max deal from anyone else would be 5YR and $117,332,020, that's almost $37Mil he would leaving on the table; and unlike Wade, and Lebron he is not getting "(Please Use More Appropriate Word)" endorsements. Bosh might bounce, with the difference in taxes between Canada and the US. I know that was something VCarter once voiced his displeasure with.
Who knows, there are going to be lots of very good players available that will be leaving, who knows, Maybe Dirk will follow his little buddy out west.

RSAVAJ, walkingart's first paragraph explain's what i was talking about. he has looked to sarver for most of his financial doings recently, and trusts sarver. i doubt he will leave, because it means more money staying with us, and there really isnt anything bad even if we go into rebuild mode in 2010, which i doubt we will. Dragic and Lopez are good prospects to became solid starters in this league, especially with Shaq and Nash mentoring them. Former MVP's are known to have some skill you know.. Im sure if anything Dragic will be atleast a 15-7 guy and Lopez a 14-11.5-2blk guy easily. Those are some solid starters, and if not allstars, could provide lot of capspace for us to sign a solid 2/3 star. (Liek i suggested above, DWADE?). I doubt Bosh leaves after what Toronto has done for him. I live in Canada, and was in Toronto for practically all my life till i moved to Vancouver (ex-Grizzlies town, wish they were still here because of the bright future they have though), and Toronto isnt nearly as bad as peolple seem to think. Taxes and weather would be my only problems. Plus, Chris is a very classy guy. He won't betray the team like that. He's not WINCE CRYBABY. Btw, we wouldnt need Dirk, or any other PF anyways. STAT is here to stay as i see it. only positions we would be extremely week at seem to be sf and sg if we trade diaw/barbosa. If not, only SG. Dwade solves that.

Still WAY too early to say Amare will retire as a Sun, though I do agree that he'll probably sign an extension to stay here. Remember, teams have a say in how long a player stays around, too, and this team doesn't have a very good history of keeping its star players all the way to retirement. The last guy who starred for the Suns, then retired as a Sun (without an interim stint with a different team) was KJ. Barkley, Majerle, Kidd, Marbury, JJ, Marion -- all gone, and most of those were traded away just because management thought it was the right move. Even Nash, who probably won't ever be traded, wouldn't be a shock if he didn't finish it out with the Suns. I could see him playing 1-2 more years after his current deal is up, maybe as a backup or something for Mike D's Knicks.

yeah, I don't know that Amare retires a Sun either, but I think he will sign another contract.
Don't count on Wade coming here, better chance he ends up in NYC with the Nets or Knicks or staying in Miami now that they have added Beasley.
Amare has the physical tools to guard 3's and 5's, so adding a Bosh or Dirk and playing them next to Amare is not unrealistic. I think the best move for signing FA's if money is not the issue, is to sign the best player available. A lot of people have knocked the GSW's for signing Maggette, since they have Monta, and SJax already; but I for one, think adding Maggette gives the Warriors a lot of versatility, and will be matchup hell for opposing teams with 2 big SF's who can score in bunches on the court as once. Imagine teams trying to match up with Lopez, Amare, Bosh or Lopez, Amare, Dirk?
Just a thought, if it doesn't work, we can slide a SF into the lineup for Lopez.

Thats really interesting to hear about Stoudamire wanting to sign an extension sooner. The only reason i actaully ask this is becuase I would love it if the Bulls got a chance to sign him. Of course i dont want to come in here and act like "we'll get him cuz we're awesome and youre not" (thats sarcasm) - i hate that mentality. I just want to know if there is anything realistic possibility of getting Amare on our team cuz i absolutely love the guy. He's one of the biggest reason why my fav. West team are you guys. But by the sounds of it...it seems as if he might be staying.

Yeah agreed if MIA works out kinks then Wade feels like he's got Kobe influence and becomes satisfied with his situation. I didn't know about Amare investing with Sarver, that's always a good thing as far as job security. My take, however, is that if we don't have a significant performance in the playoffs AND look 90% certain that we will pick up a top 5-8 FA in '10, Amare hits the road.

Honestly I don't see Lebron, Wade or Bosh coming to Phoenix. Other than having the chance to play with Stoudemire and if Nash signs for something close to vet min, I don't think phoenix has that attractiveness we had before when D'Antoni was here (you see how all these players spoke out after he was named NY's coach, about how they wanted to play for him). This is granted we have not won our championship yet.
A lil bit OT, but who does the coaching for our summer league team? I've always wanted to know, because i didn't think Porter would be bothered with a little league like this.

Weber coached the team last summer, but he moved on with Mike D, and is now coaching the Knicks summer league team.
Dan Majerle is coaching this summers team, and is being assisted by the new coach from Europe(I can't remember his name).
FA's will always want to come to Phoenix regardless of who there coach is. Nash came here when Mike D was tantamount to nothing. Mike D had two season under his belt as an NBA coach then, and had a record under 500%. When it is sunny and in the 60's or 70's on Christmas day, who woudn't want to come here. Phoenix is a mecca for retired players. So, as long as we can offer market value to FA's, they will come here. The only reason we are having trouble these days, is we have no minutes or money to hand out.
With all that said, I doubt Lebron, Wade or Bosh go anywhere other than Manhattan or Brooklyn. The money they would leave on the table is ridiculous, and the only market they could attempt to make it up in is NYC. But there are many other FA's that are going to be available.

I'm still a bit worried that Amare bolts in 2010 if we can't build a proper team around him.
Amare leaving the Suns.....that would make me cry.
Like, real tears....

I like this point. I feel like maybe through/after this season, if Porter proves that there are roles to be had on this squad, we stop losing your PJ Browns and your Brent Barrys and Tyronne Lues. Still doesn't solve the money problem for those vying for more than min but we would need a full blown FO assassination to fix that one.

Taking out the front office isn't going to change our financial situation, now if we can find a way to take out the CBA, that would be another story.
