Because we could have used trade exceptions to get Camby.

Actually, KT's TPE was 8.9, and Camby's salary is 10, so we couldn't have.
But I'm always in support of an "EFF YOU SARVER", so yeah....
EFF YOU SARVER!!!!

it only cost them a 2nd round pick because the clippers have the cap space and the buggets needed to dump salary. picking him up wouldnt have been an option for us. the nugs didnt want to take salary back for even longre than camby is on the books for (i.e. diaw)
don't understand why the clips did it though. they have a bad history with injured players, and camby hsa been plagued by injuries for most of his career. they do have a perfect defensive compliment to kamans offense( and ine[titude on the defensive end), but now they are very slow.

what's worse is the Nuggets didn't end up giving away 2 unprotected first round picks to the Clippers to take Camby's salary off of their hands like our brilliant new GM did in the Kurt Thomas salary dump. That trade still really pisses me off more than almost any other move we made. Oh well, Sarver saved plenty of Lux tax money right? Let me join in with you guys.....
F you Sarver!!!!!!!
Here's to our capspace in 2010!!! LOL

Thing is...
It was a damn second-rounder!
Is Camby's value really that low?

Whatever it was, I'm sure we could have made it work if they wanted to pay up.

No way the suns would have done this, so this is in now way Sarvers fault b/c that would have ment 20 mil he is actually paying for camby. Thats shaq's contract.
I eco the stupid move by kerr to get used and tossed on the street like a little ...... nevermind, but he got raped by the sonics for those picks. That to me is bad GM move......by both teams. I don't understand how the nugz dont get at least a 1st rd unprotectd pick? Thats a bad deal for the nugz.
Anyway, lets talk about the trade. What does this do to the clippers? Does he go to PF, and be a defensive stopper?
So is it
Baron
Gordon
Thorton
Camby
Cave man
Outside of cave man, that is a run and gun team big time. Not a bad team at all I guess, but don't know if they are a playoff team by all means.

No, it had nothing to do with Camby's value really. I bet you if we wanted to get under cap and sign a UFA like Corey Maggatte we couldve traded Shaq for a future first (protected for 2 years then unprotected in 2011). But thing is there are no UFA's. Only RFA's that are great are Iggy, Josh Smith and Emeka Okafor. I would be all for getting Okafor and JR Smith though. That wouldve made us:
Okafor/Lopez
Stoudemire/Diaw
Diaw/Hill/Tucker
Bell/JR/DJ
Nash/Lue/DJ
That makes barbosa dispensible. Im sure we couldve netted a backup PF, and SF for barbosa easily.
Diaw is also dispensible in this, meaning we couldve given him up for 80 cents on the dollar and still be good enough to win a ring. If only Sarver and Kerr thought about dumping capspace now instead of the KT trade

(and had a brain like mine

)

a deal i say could be made right now:
Barbosa and Tucker for Crittenton, Warrick and Greg Buckner.
Nash/Crittenton/DJ
Bell/DJ/Buckner
Diaw/Hill
Stoudemire/Warrick
Shaq/Lopez
I think this trade solves all our problems, but only if DJ improves quite a bit (maybe a 10ppg scorer off the bench)? and Nash only gets about 28min so Critt can make his minutes usefull. Anyone like the idea? we also get a 2010 expiring and could sign giriceck to fill the 3rd string SF/SG job and move buckner to the IA. Resign Marks and Skinner and Giriceck and you're set.

You can't trade Shaq for draft picks, no team in the league has enough cap room to even touch his contract. And if we did, we still would only be able to sign someone at $6mil/yr.
The only other teams in the league other than the Clips who could haven taken Camby is GS and Memphis; but only if the Lakers match Turiaf's contract, otherwise, they don't even have the cap room to add $10 Million. And Memphis is not going to add salary.

^ i was being sarcastic, maybe i didnt put it well enough lol, but i thought the rolly eyes gave it away. Clearly, Memphis' only need is a PF which they can get easily next year.. (seems to me like they may go after drew gooden for like a 12mil/2yr contract.

Man, Denver is waving the white flag. As a Carmelo Anthony fan, I hope they trade him, because that team has no future.

Barbosa and Tucker for Crittenton, Warrick and Greg Buckner??????? Bad trade idea. Barbosa is way more valuable than these cats together. Man, you got to give posting so many trade proposals man.

So how does this work - I thought salaries had to match? Course, the trade rules baffle me at the best of times but I must be misunderstanding this.
Doesn't Denver have to take back salary within 125%?

Salaries don't need to be within 125% if the team taking on the contract is far enough below cap or if the team has a trade exception from a prior trade. I dunno which one it is here - I believe LAC had room after signing Davis since Elton bounced?

Ya Camby for 10mil right now is bad...especially in conjunction with Kaman...horrible replacement for Brand and doesn't even work with their lineup. They probably could have gotten a backloaded (is that the opposite of frontloaded) contract offer out to Smith and still kept it not far from the 10mil range. Trigger happy or whatever, they just buried themselves. At least there's one team with a less intuitive roster than us this season!
