The Suns finally have a full roster and arn't likely to sign any other players so the roster sits at 13
C-Shaq/Lopez
PF-Amare/Diaw/Amundson
SF-Barnes/Hill/Tucker
SG-Bell/Barbosa/Strawberry
PG-Nash/Dragic
So here's a few questions on what you guys think starting from the hiring of Terry Porter to the signing of Dragic (you can basically just sum it up in your own words)
1)What are your thoughts about Terry Porter as the new Suns head coach?
-Do you feel he's going to be a better fit than D'antoni?
-What are his pros/cons you like and dislike about him
-What kind of coaching style do you think he will bring to the Suns
-How do you feel about the new Suns assistant coaches?
-What else do you think about the Suns coaching changes?
2)What are your thoughts about the 2008 NBA draft for the Suns,
-Are you happy with the results or dissapointed with the Suns selections? (Robin Lopez, Goran Dragic)
-Do you feel they can both contribute to the Suns?
-Do you think they have a long future with the Suns?
-Who would you have taken with the #15 and #45 draft picks?
-What else do you think about the 2008 NBA draft?
3)The signing of Matt Barnes
-What do you think about the signing of Matt Barnes?
-Do you see Matt Barnes as being a major contributor to the Suns this year?
-Do you think the deal with Barnes was just a one year thing or does he have a future with the Suns?
-What position/s would you like to see Matt Barnes play?
-What else do you think about this signing?
4)The signing of Louis Amundson
-What do you think about the signing of Louis Amundson?
-Do you think of him more as a practice guy on the squad or a guy that can step in and contribute when the Suns need him to?
-Do you think he has a future with the Suns and can be a solid role player for them?
-What else do you think about this signing?
5)Goran Dragic
-Do you think he has a chance to be the Suns future point guard as Suns management claims?
-What do you think about the Suns moving up in the draft two spots just to draft Dragic?
-What contributions do you expect him to make to the Suns this year and in the future?
-What are your other thoughts about Goran Dragic?
6)The Suns evaluation, I created a poll so you can grade the Suns on the moves they made this summer, also if anythings not listed you can give your thoughts about it.

no way another poll? I grade your polls A++ buddy !! I guess we've talked about this plenty other times, so I'm gonna say what I said last week a B+ now that Dragic is on board.

sure, i wanted posey, maggette, and baron davis to come and marbs for the minimum, but for the suns, with nothing to spend, to come out of this offseason with lopez, dragic, barnes and amundson, then ill say A+++ for getting something with nothing

i like porter just cause i hated only having 8 players.
lopez is solid. dragic im happy with 4 the scnd round.
barnes was a steal
and amundson is a perfect for a 11/12 man.
if theres one thing i would like it would be diaw for a gooden/haslem type player. but that would be unlikely i guess

i am mostly happy about our coaching staff as a whole and not just porter. i just have a really good feeling this year about them.
as for our signings, i like them. they are much better than in years past. we have signed useful players and we have a coach that is going to use the. the lakers and celtics are both perfect examples of how using your bench throughout the season can help you in the playoffs. neither had the best bench, they just had benches that could be depended on and were given the playing time neccessary.
our draft was good because we actually used our picks and got 2 players at needed positions who i think are underrated. i am not saying they are saviors or in contention for ROY, just i think they'll be solid.
Barnes i think was a very good signing, especially at his price. amundson i have no real opinion of but he will give 100% and that always makes me happy. i hate players who slack off at any time.

one more thing, i would love to keep barbosa if he learns to intitiate contact and draw more fouls when he drives to the basket. he would be so much better if he could get a little sam i am in him. not all the crap, just the ability to draw contact.
i still dont like diaw.

I think having porter hear is a breath of fresh air. He may be hwat avery was to the Mavs a few seasons ago. I think him being a point guard in the NBA that had to work hard and play the game the right way benefits the suns. I am reminded of Scott Skiles in a sense that both were pg who knew the importance of hardwork, grit, and attention to defense. Porter's coaching style is what he says it is which is focus on the suns best weapon (run-n-gun) and build on its weaknesses (half court offense) Im looking forward to what the "teacher" is going to bring but I am unsure about the Igor guy. I have not really familiar with him which is where the majority of stems from. I think the suns caoching changes were more a reflection of the type of ball they want to play not because they FO didnt think the old coaches were not doing a good job the past 3 seasons.
2)What are your thoughts about the 2008 NBA draft for the Suns,
-Are you happy with the results or dissapointed with the Suns selections? (Robin Lopez, Goran Dragic)

-Do you think they have a long future with the Suns?
-Who would you have taken with the #15 and #45 draft picks?
-What else do you think about the 2008 NBA draft?
I am not disappionted with the Lopez and I am looking forward to see him play in the public scrimmage. I think Goran is still a mystery so I am interested as to how good this guy can be. I think Robin has shown he has the goods. I think If he can minimize the damage control whenever there is a shaq injury or whenever Amare gets into foul trouble then he has done his job better than I expected. Its hard to tell the future and I do not really know the mentality of Sarver and Kerr in terms of loyalty so I am unsure how long Dragic and Lopez will last as suns. I hope they retire here. Man Mareese SPeights looked so good in vegas. hmm Bill Walker comes to mind. I wanted too see him play for phx. he has lots of potential. As far as the rest of the NBA draft itself I think beasley is going to be a better player than derrick rose. I think Kevin Love will be a player to watch. I think the second round guys can play. I think chalmers will be one of the guys from the second round that ppl will remember. Richard Hendrix and Bill Walker may make a splash as well.
3)The signing of Matt Barnes
-What do you think about the signing of Matt Barnes?
-Do you see Matt Barnes as being a major contributor to the Suns this year?
-Do you think the deal with Barnes was just a one year thing or does he have a future with the Suns?

Im glad they got Barnes the suns need some nastiness and guys that does what the stard wont do. I definitly see Barnes being a contributor. I hope Porter will be able to use barnes well and convince that he will help the suns through this point of transition. I want to see Barnes play SF and SG mainly because he can gives the suns length on defense and some tougness in the perimeter. I personally think they got a steal with him. /b]
[b]The signing of Amundsun just serves as a guy that will make practices more competitive. He may not play a lot but he can still make a difference when practicing on drills vs Amare and Diaw. I honestly think its gut check time for those guys. The suns will sign him depend on the money issue but I dont see them signing outside from that reason. I think this signing was a no brainer signing. I think He is a low risk and possibly high reward signing.
I think he can be a solid starter for them but franchsie players are hard to find so I dont expect this kid to be a player like that. I LOVED the fact that they went after who they wanted because it showed a commitment to getting better. I think he may be able to practice okay but I dont know if he will crack the rotation as kerr would like the fans to expect. Down the road he may prove to be a good investment. He may be a diamond in the rough. I think Goran will be somewhat like LB. I think with proper coaching and discipline they can contibute. I always wondered why ppl doubt european players ability to adapt to the game. It took Lb a while to make a difference but I dont think there really was any doubt that he can play.
6)The Suns evaluation, I created a poll so you can grade the Suns on the moves they made this summer, also if anythings not listed you can give your thoughts about it.
I think the suns are in a transition phase. I think Kerr and the gang are trying to build and work towards a more balanced team. The season will be a rollercoaster mainly because of the ripple effect of the coaching change. I think this team could be like the mavs and clcik right away or like the heat that took until the playoffs to get it together. I do know that Porter is a good choice and getting Goran and Lopez definitly was the tip of the iceberg of what Kerr and the gang has planned for the team.

- I loved Mike D and the 7 seconds team but it was over and time to try something else
- We actually drafted and kept TWO players, neither of whom suck
-We did extremely well with no real $$$ in the free agent market
Conclusion: I'ts like Dr. Johnson said about second marriages - the triumph of hope of experience. Despite having my heart broken again and again, I'm optimistic.
PS - NBA TV just showed the 93 Suns/Chicago series.
Is being a Suns fan kind of like being a Cubs fan?
