Who should the Suns target?

Seems like every year Suns target a player before trading deadline( TIm Thomas, Jimmy Jackson, etc), who do you think Suns should target this upcoming season before the trade deadline?

Uhhh, a little early you think? I think it matters how certain players play, injuries and who becomes available. I’m not sure who is going to be available as of now, especially before the first regular season game.

^Yeah I think Chandler will be a Granger type player - so DA will love him

Guys we should look at come the deadline who I think would help for the playoffs:

- Joe Smith
- Quinton Ross
- Bobby Jackson
- Zaza Pachulia
- Adrian Griffin

target??

the suns targeted both thomas giricek and jackson because they werent happy where they were

so we would have to see who isnt happy

but i doubt we target anyone, we have depth this year

I would like another shooting guard to complement Bell. I've never been a Barbosa fan but will give him a few months to see if Porter can knock some defense into him along with some extra BB IQ.

I would like Pachulia and Jackson on our team. Pachulia doesn't do much offensively but gives us some hustle defense and put backs, much like Amundson and he doesn't take sh*t from nobody either a la Garnett. Jackson is a solid vet who is a decent defender and great at creating his own offense, much like Barbs except he's a smart vet.

well i hope and i think that the roster is set and leave us to the playoffs.
we got two players on every position and i don´t see a addition for this roster.

so why would any vet sign with us and don´t see pt??

we wont add anyone without dropping someone

we couldnt even keep hite who impressed

--- Yeah , you're right. This is just the last gasp of summer blather before the real stuff starts.
That said, if we picked up Miles for the minimum, even with he luxury tax, doesn't the league or the player's assoc pick up a big chunk of his contract as a vet?

Now that I think of it, we need another pure shooter to stretch the D. We need that guy who sits in the corner when nash needs a bailout or Shaq or amare could kick it too.

i say al harrington...... he doesnt wanna play for nellie and has asked for a trade. he makes the same as diaw, but he is more aggressive and can shoot the three. he isnt a good rebounder, but neither is diaw.

plus he is another expiring right along with shaq, and bell and nash. thats 47 mil in expirings and and we could conceivably have only 24 mil in total contracts.

i think that is enough to make a strong push for a few very good free agents including nash, dirk, tayshaun, wade, jefferson, bosh, and caron. i left lebron off because i think he is the least likely to land in phoenix. he can make more by staying in cleveland or going to a city with a bigger market like ny or la. i am sure we can get at least a few of them. and amare wont opt out of his contract.

Diaw is actually a really good rebounder when he wants to be and the only thing he pads his stats more with is assists. Harrington is a terrible rebounder and post defender, but he sure can launch the 3. His aggressiveness would be a valued commodity here in Phoenix.

I'd like him here, except for the fact that I feel insecure about shaving so much cap space off in 2010. I feel like we'll be trying to fill our roster with so many new guys who may not be worth what they are paid here but are paid that much because we have cap space, if you know what i mean. Kinda like how GSW signed Maggette, when clearly they already have a highly paid SF in S.Jax. I'd like to have at least 2 big contracts stay with us into 2010, excluding Amare.

As for the UFA I'd like to put around Amare, I think we have a good shot at Butler. He won't stay with Washington since they probably will not make playoffs this year and with Arenas' contract, I think they won't have enough to resign Butler to a big contract. I don't think Wade will leave MIA imho, they have enough talent on that team and with Marion's contract expiring, they will surely stock up on some nice young talent to put around Wade. Don't think Dirk's game would work here in PHX, we'll have two soft rebounders in the front court which would be terrible.

VC would be good this season, but his contract is ugly.

Harrington?

Harrington?

Dirk's actually a pretty decent rebounder, but he'll be kinda old.

And as far as the contract ugliness goes, if you can unload Diaw/Barbo then I think it actually saves some money in the long run.
