I just read that Mike D wants Marbury gone. Do we now try to pick him up even if for the sake of not letting him join a western conference team?
He still has lot of talent and if Barbs is still playing poorly we may have need of a scoring guard.
What do you all think?

Definately, it would be a much better having him play back up point over Dragic anyway...Marbury has a good relationship with Amare and Barbosa and was a one time Suns player so I can see him comming back possibly.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. I do not want Starbury. I don't care if NY was his fault or not, he just seems to have bad vibes surrounding him. Plus why would he sign with the SUns to play max 15-18 mins a game when he can start for other teams.

Toucansma has a point. He hasn't played a full game for years. If he's going to sign, he'll sign to a team who'll give him 25+ min and whoever will pay him will most probably pay more than what we could afford.

That being said, I'd still like him here. Wonder why D'Antoni would want him off the team, when clearly Starbury is the best PG in NY for D'Antoni's Run n Gun.

Marbury is getting paid if he is waived by NY. Money wont be an issue to him. But rebuilding his rep will be a huge issue. IMO Phoenix would be a huge opportunity for him to come in and run the team while Nash rests 15-20mpg. It would be a great pick up.

he would come here for cheap, and we have a much better chance of making the playoffs then NY does, so I think he would be more then happy to come here, sarver just needs to open his check book.

I have mixed feelings. Marbury is better than anyone we have behind Nash, but his attitude problems are very real, and I don't want Dragic's development slowed.

I have mixed feelings as well but it doesn't matter...it won't happen because as mentioned Marbury needs minutes and also the Suns aren't going to suddenly supercede everything they've done to get Dragic, as well as shoving Barbosa after a couple mediocre games throughout which he's had his mother's health issue on his mind.

A part of Dragic/Singletary/Barbs should eventually become enuf of an answer for backup PG, specially if Porter makes em play off the ball a lot and let Hill/Diaw run the bench offense more often like I think he will.

GSW could really use a PG at the mo, bet they'll take a good look at him... Altho there are good chances that S-Jax/Magette/Marbury would eventually try to murder each other

Just watching the game last night and how poorly we played when nash wasn't in really scares me. Everyone looked way too scared and they were fumbling over who was going to dribble the ball down. It was truly an ugly sight to see.

yes most of us would love him here to back up Nash, the reality of this whole thing is that we can afford anyone else at this time. Best wishes to Starbury.

I was always a huge Marbury fan when he was here. The guy was our leader and averaged more than 8apg if I remember correctly as a Sun. He was also clutch down the stretch.

I would take the chance. Kerr is already rolling the dice with the other moves made.

Dragic seems very timid and since we are in a win now mode, we have to have a strong backup pg.

Marion left because he wanted to leave and we accomodated him. He wasn't a cancer or anything.

As for money not being an issue for him since he's still getting paid his 21mil, I think it will be an issue. He made it clear that his "pride was hurt," when he did everything coach told him to do and still not getting any PT. The most we can pay him is the MLE, which we won't so most likely he would be getting a vet min if he played here. I think that would hurt his pride just as much. Imagine getting paid 21mil one year and the next you're getting paid 1/20 of that.

That being said, I still stand by that we won't be able to get him because we have nothing to offer to him that other teams can't offer, and those teams could probably offer more than just a vet min and most probably starters minutes.

I have enough faith in Steve Kerr's intellect that this won't even be considered. Plus, it would cost our front office more cash, which we're not parting with at this stage of the season!

id sign him, but he will either chase a ring in LA, Boston or San an, or go for court time in denver or miami

i would love bringing him back here. he could back up nash and also see some minutes on the sg position. we will be one of the favourite cause marbury had a good time here.

he could be the thug we need to get over the hump...
