On a more selfish note, Barbo's not going to be a contributer for the rest of the season.

I feel very bad for Leandro. He's such a good kid. He's gonna go through a very hard time. Hope Basketball can be a way to get over it.

Wow. I'm sorry to hear this. When I read a few posts around here about Barbosa sucking I always thought that it was probably because he was thinking about his mother. Because just because he came back to the team didn't necessarily mean his mother was ok. Prayers to him and his family.

If there is any justice from the basketball gods at all, Leandro will come back totally pissed off and just go beserker on everyone.

A very reliable site posted this some hours ago, and the brazilian basketball association also released this information.

That sucks for LB, big time.

I don't want to sound like a prick, but he may play very poorly for a while when he returns since he is really emotional.

This is horrible news, Barbosa is such a nice guy he doesnt deserve this right now. I remember when Matt Barnes mom died last year before regular season Barnes just wasnt the same player anyone for the first 5 months or so.

Hes done for the season. He won't be the same until next season. Just look at Matt Barnes last season. He was so terrible he didn't even get PT, due to the fact he lost his mother also.

Condolecences to Leandrinho. I saw an interview with him last year here in Brazil. He was there with his mother and his brother. The guy is absolutely crazy about both of them. He's probably devastated.
Hope he comes back strong, but I wouldn't be surprised if he plays below average for the rest of the season.

Very sad news hold on Leandro, i can't imagine how hard this is for him.

I think the Suns can do Barbosa a favour and trade him to the Knicks so he can reunite with the D'antoni brothers, he had a close relationship with them and it would feel more at home with the large Brazilian population in NYC.

Maybe Barbosa for Malik Roses expiring and either Wilson Chandler or Nate Robinson?
