The Suns point guard situation

Post#1 » by MaryvalesFinest » Tue Nov 18, 2008 5:55 am

After watching tonights game it was bad enough the Suns were out rebounded like 47-26 against the Jazz but also the play of Goran Dragic. With Barbosa in Brazil the Suns basically don't have a decent player to back up Nash. It seems when Dragic is in the game the Suns are out of sync, this doesn't look like the guy Sarver and Kerr made him out to be.

Than the Suns have Sean Singletary who has shown some flashes that he could stick in the league like when the Suns played the Kings and Pistons but it appears the Suns don't have him in there future plans and he's just a guy on the bench.

Now the Suns plan before the season was to rest Nash between 10-12 games, it looks like the only way to do that is to sign a vetran point guard. Anyway what do you guys think about the Suns point guard situation? Should they sign a vetran? Just play Dragic or give Singletary more playing time?

I think they have a completely adequate backup PG on the roster but for some stupid reason they don't use him like they should

GRANT HILL

Make him the faciliator on offence, and make Dragic guard the oppostion PG. Done.

This team does not have a PG problem.

This team has a consistent shooting guard problem - something that always gets neglected.

Somehow Sean always gets more rebounds than assists it seems, I want him to play over Dragic though and we need to assign Dragic to the D league asap.
If he stinks in the D League then we know that he is probably an utter failure at this point, if he lights it up then there will be some hope for the future.

although i still like dragic and hope he does well. i think garrick has it. even if sean and dragic alternate every 10 games where one plays in the d league and one is backup pg. that also gives tucker a chance to earn some pt as i think he deserves it. the time dragic will get to adjust to the americam version of ball will be invaluable and it will give him a chance to ghain confidence and get his shot bak

dragic really sucked til now imo.

i'd really like us to try out singletary as our backup for steve for a few games. if he plays better, make him the backup regardless of the money spent for dragic. the only thing that should matter is basketball, not money spent.

if sean plays decent and barbosa is back, i'd like dragic to spend some time in the d-league like garrick said. maybe he's got talent after all but needs time to adjust.

well i think dragic is our future. but he has to addept to the american style of play. i see the adventage of sean in that point. he knows how physical the play is in the us.
i think that is the main problem. so let´s try sean over goran...

Props to the great one

He's in Europe.

As of now, Singletary contributes more to this team than Goran does, but TPTB are too full of themselves to admit they made a mistake.

I strongly disagree with the assumption that Goran is a failure and Singletary is better.

I like both Dragic and Singletary, but I think Dragic is obviously better than Singletary.

He is a well and above better passer and has a knack for getting loose balls and being scrappy with steals, and his height truly makes a difference compared to Singletary.

The only thing I think Singletary is better at is shooting and agression, Basically he has balls and Dragic doesnt...yet.

If Dragic would just learn to shoot the ball more I think he'd be great, if you look at him he nearly NEVER even looks at the rim, he always just swings the ball to the "other" open guy. and he's rather good at getting to the hoop but he needs to rise up and take the contact instead of trying loopy shots we all know he can dunk if he wants too.

I think most of you know I am not a believer in Dragic. Its good that others are seeing what I am. I personally do not think either is an answer to what we need as a backup PG. Problem is, the suns are now regreating trading away Rondo. Shoot, might as well throw in the 04 pick and Rudy too. I think Kerr is trying to fix the past mistakes and reached big time.

Let me say this. Dragic is not the future of this team! Im sorry, I just don't see it. never have. I think he has the potential to be a decen backup, but that is it.

I think the suns need to keep their options open for the trade deadline and for waived players. A waived player might be a risk, but a cheap one and one with EXPERIANCE! That is what we need guys if we want to win it all. Kerr is a nimrod, and sarver wont pay. Dragic would have been fine left over season and bring in a vert backup. But this is what you get with morons running the orgnization.

Ok, i feel better now.

Dragic is obviously not ready yet. He's worse than Banks right now. Singletary, the better NBA player with better defense, is being held back because of all the investment Kerr had in Dragic. I don't know what the f**k he or Porter is looking at right now. We got him locked up for 4 years, why do we HAVE to play him now? If we are a young team, fine, but we're a veteran team trying to figure things out and contend, play the better player and that's Singletary. He should be our backup PG.

If Dragic improved his ballhandling, he would be a completely different player.
