Amare is being treated as a role player

And it needs to stop
Amare is a player who thrives on confidence and right now it seems Amare is lossing confidence every single game and Terry Porter doesn't know what the hell to do about it
We need a coach who can motivate Amare to actually strive for the greatness he wants to achieve, not someone who is going to make Amare regress as a player and lose his swagger

I still stand by what I said LAST year when we were struggling that we should have hired Paul Silas as the head coach.
Nothing I've seen from Porter shows that he can lead veterans. He's essentially trying to turn us into crossdressers. People can see we're men, but he's making us look like women.
What a joke. Amare doesn't help himself by sulking and not playing hard, but I'm telling you now we're going to lose him to either NY/CLE/MIA in 2010.
We had and HAVE the most effective play in basketball with the Nash/Amare pick and roll, and we stupidly ignore it as if Porter is saying to Kerr "See, I told you I'd slow them down and make us a halfcourt team"

I feel bad for Amare; he averaged 29 PPG last year after the Shaq trade under Mike D, and he's being BADLY misused by Porter.
It's sad to watch and I feel bad for him.
Running this offense through a 36 year old Shaq is one of the dumbest things I've ever seen.

Yeah it's rediculous, it looked like Amare was literally begging for the ball and yet no one would give it to him. The guy only managed to get off 10 shots, the same number as Barnes, less than Bell and half of the number Barbosa got.
As a Suns fan I love having Amare on the Suns but for his own sake I'm starting to think he would be better opting out and going to another team where he will be the focal point on offense like he wants, we all know he did it last season after the Shaq trade by averaging close to 30 points but Porter wants to make him a role player.

Agree with most of the things said. Porter isn't using him wisely *and* Amare isn't helping himself either.
Specifically Amare isn't being given an open lane to drive on his player which is really what his one-on-one game is all about.
When he does go one-on-one whether the lane is open or not he is forcing shots. Teams are collapsing on him heavily. Already this season I've seen him try to take on 3 or 4 players when he has the ball in the lane and it happened again tonight. He is just so single-minded when he gets the ball in that situation which isn't such a bad thing but when you're coming up against 4 players the thought of "there must be a 3pt shooter open" never even enters Amare's head.
Yes we need to go to him more but most importantly we need to be smart about it and clear the bloody lane so he can go to work! Then there is the working with Shaq part. When Shaq has the ball Porter just isn't spacing the team (specifically Amare) well at all and therefore it's not leading to easy baskets as it was when D'Antoni was here.

Is Nashill a Suns fan? Serious question. Any post I see of his Amar'e or the Suns are getting trashed. Or are you just an Amar'e hater? Amar'e IS a go to player.....and has proved it for the last couple of years. Porter's misuse is not Amar'e's fault

one thing that no one has said about amare, and when i was watching him play, i figured it out. The guy wants the ball, but he is not getting it. So when he gets it, he is forcing things and trying to be the man! Prove he should have the ball and makes stupid mistakes. The thing is, most of the time when you force it, it looks ends badly.
Porter is treating Amare as the third option, however, Amare needs to play smart ball and let the Offensive game come to him. Rebound, hustle, play with heart, show some kind of bball IQ. The guy is forcing it, and the system is a problem.
This is a bad lost, and Kerrs lame plan of sitting nash and bringing in some scrub rook backup, shows his intelligence as a gm.
it might be a long season guys.

^That's an interesting way of looking at it, and I think you may be onto something.
nashill-I meant nothing by my question, just really wasn't sure. No harm done I hope.
