so i know people read the players only meeting article and stuff but i am a bit confused... was this meeting before the Nets game or earlier today?
also the way porter is talking about it in the article seems like he has given up on his end and seems as if he is blaming the players...? or is that just my opinion on it.
the sky isnt falling but man sure seems like it.

I don't like Porter's comments one bit. Everyday I'm more convinced Porter wasn't ready to handle this team, it's too much of a team for an unproven coach.

yeah... we have alot of great pieces on this and its very shocking to see whats going on... and i think porter has no right to be saying what he is because he is still UNPROVEN if he ended up going on a ten game win streak and then we started slacking then its understandable but porter is losing respect from me by the minute...

He said, "The reality is, 'Guys, we're still a good team. We still have got some good things going on. Let's not put the weight of the world on us, just because we lose a couple games. Granted, we'd like to play better at home. We haven't. Let's regroup, come out and play better. Play with more energy. Have more fun.'
okay so whats so bad about this quote? Porter has been a part of team meeting and unless the suns players ACTUALLY make some sacrifices for the betterment of the team then The would be on the same exact rut that they are in right now.
also Last time I checked, Grant, Diaw are TO the ball over every time they get into the paint. Im getting sick of Grant driving into the paint and lose the ball out of bounce.

I almost throw up when I read that article.
It was not a scrapbooking party but the Suns did break out the scissors and paste when they gathered for a meeting Saturday.
It was more bonding exercise than power meeting with staff and management. It lasted 30 minutes, with the product being collage posters they made about togetherness that were put on the locker room wall. Did it help?
"It's yet to be determined," coach Terry Porter said. "Whenever you run an exercise like that, it's long term more than short term. I don't know if you can necessarily see short-term results."
An arts and crafts session? Are you kidding me? This aren't kindergarten, these are grown men! What a stupid way to to make a team of veterans "bond". Go bowling. Go dinner. Jeez.

But don't you see, making collages about togetherness is a guaranteed fix-all.

My God... If they really got together and did some pansy stuff like that could they please just keep it to themselves and not let it leak to the media? People are laughing at us about enough without things like that.
And Porter was absolutely correct. The love meeting worked for a whole three consecutive quarters. And then they backslid into the norm, coupled with Porters horrible substitutions they were back at square one.
Maybe they should have done some yoga/pilates at half time, coupled with a nice strawberry peach mango smoothy to make them feel super ooey gooey lovey dovey to finish out the game.
I wonder how many arts and crafts the Piston badboys had back in the 80s...

I was shaking my head reading that stupid piece of crap. I mean, childish is all I can say. I can't even picture our guys doing it. LOL.
I just lost respect for the whole organization and I suspect some of the players did too.
Art and craft session

Remember the good old days, like when Shawn is still here he would routinely organize dinner and party. Guys go dinner, bowling, or watch a baseball match.
This is very embarrassing...I'm not sure who's horrible idea it was to have an art and craft session, but I would think it wasn't the player's. I mean, these are Steve Nash, Shaq O'Neal, Raja Bell and Grant Hill we're talking about, not a bunch of raw rookies adjusting to the NBA. Let them go bowling, grab dinner, see a movie together... anything but collages!

If it works I really don't care... I just don't want to picture our guys with Elmers all over their hands and Amare off in the corner sniffing the rubber cement.
Id rather picture them throwing people through plate glass windows in bars like Barkley used to.

I'm disappointed. We all love this team, but I'm just about ready to call it quits, trade Diaw/Barbs/Shaq @ the deadline, and tank the whole season to pick up Ricky Rubio.

I would have a section of Majerle's closed off and beer pong would ensue, if I were no the team.

I just spit on my computer screen I laughed so violently.
I'm serious, that comment was pure gold.

I want to lock for the sheer lunacy of this idiotic exercise
What are we 12 year old girls bitching about what day we're allowed to wear pink?
Christ someone needs to grow a pair in this organisation

This is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Sounds like a bunch of 2year old on a play date. Collages? C'mon!
Team bonding isn't just a 30min meeting before a game. It's a season long thing. Go out for dinner, bowling or go over to each other houses for BBQ's or whatever Americans do. If Porter really wants to reach out to his players, he's gotta get down to their level and be one of them and recognize what is what.

The whole 'art & craft' session thing might sound stupid, but is it really that bad?
Cutting out images etc might not seem the most manly thing to do, but it's a bonding exercise outside of playing ball together - something the Suns could surely use. What are they meant to do, be men and go to the pub and get pissed together?
