Porter shows Suns who's in charge

That entire article was confusing, even without the ridiculous spin coming from Bickley.

Either you're not a Suns fan, or you haven't watched a game this year if you like this guy. He's not a good coach and he's a horrible fit for the Suns. I really couldn't be more disappointed w/ the hire than I am right now and from the tone of this board...I'm not even close to being in the minority.

there will be no other solution for the suns to get it done with this players, with this coach, with this organisation.
so you better like what kerr is cooking. haha, sorry for that one...
you believe the suns are trading amare? or they fire t. porter and pay for nothing??

Re: Porter shows Suns who's in charge
On a young team I could see the reasoning behind something like this but on a veteran laden team you gotta be careful before you lay into your team like that.
The thing is he should have made the decision to let Nash run the offense 10 games ago before things got this bad. If he had done that there wouldn't be all this grumbling from the players.

Re: Porter shows Suns who's in charge
You know what the worst part about all of this is? I think it's safe to say the media is loving this right now so they can start criticizing Shaq all the time for this mess when he's the LAST person who should be blamed for this.
Honestly, who would have expected he would average 15 and 9 on 60% shooting in just 27 minutes a game at 36 years old?
He's been terrific and I think he's exceeded everybody's expectations.
But it's just a matter of time before the media starts criticizing the trade again (Even though D'Antoni is the one who really pushed for it) even though it's not Shaq's fault.
Porter and Kerr are responsible for this.
Kerr for hiring Porter and Porter for his horrible coaching so far.
I predict blowout losses these next three games to Utah, New Orleans, and Dallas.

What!? He wants Nash to handle the ball more!? I'm not sure that's a good idea...I mean who is this Steve Nash guy anyway? Is he any good at point guard?

I think Shaq don't care the media criticizes him. He's said it before, 12 out of 16 times it was his fault he couldn't get his team a ring. As for Porter, I still don't like him and what he's done, but I 'm glad he sees the flaws in his system and is willing to change. I'm just not sure why he didn't do this earlier. I mean, who better to make plays than one of the top 5 play makers in the NBA?

The suns can't win a championship with this team, not under the system of D'Antoni and not under the system of Porter.
Our defence has not improved, but the offence is terrible. If you can't win a championship, I rather see attractive basketball like under D'Antoni. The only real thing I blame him for, is the lack of critizism towards younger players like Stat.
The team is on its way down...

Only good thing I heard in this article is Nash coaching the offense, I mean handling the ball. Haha, just let Nash direct everything and get out of the way.

Basically.
I was shaking my head again reading Porter's quote. As if he doesn't understand how good Steve Nash is. But at least he is trying to think.
We've tried to think about getting it out of his hands at times and putting it in other guys' hands, but it's a lot easier to control turnovers from one guy as opposed to 12 guys.
I'm not sure what to make from this quote. Does he want to give Nash more control? Or is he just saying let's just have Nash throw entry pass to Shaq because he's better?
"I think we're going to have to figure out ways to limit guys' ability to handle the ball and put it in Steve's hands more and longer into the possession. We need to convince people of the importance of making the easy pass. It's a concern for us moving forward.
Coach Porter, listen, YOUR YMCA BS ISN'T WORKING!! Yea, sure, let Nash handle the ball, longer the possession, then make an entry pass to Shaq until 13 seconds on the shot clock. I'm very disappointed. As I said before, Porter likes things simple. That's how he's marginalize Steve Nash - a creative passer into a bring the ball up and spot up shooting PG.
I'm not sure Porter won over any of the Vets by chewing them out, then basically admitting that he has no idea how to structure a successful offense. I don't mind the tough guy routine, but only if you can back it up. He can tell the guys to give more effort, try to motivate his players, but if he can't provide a good system, it's hard for the players to put the effort into it. Raja has obviously lost a step this season, but he is playing just as hard. Nash is trying to fit in his new 'Brevin Knight' role as an entry passer instead of a creator. I mean, you could definitely make cases for Amare, but these guys are playing hard, it's the system that fails them.

The 2005-06 Suns will always have a special place in my heart

Bickley is an idiot. I could never listen to that guy talk about, well anything.
Porter, this guy is not leaving. This is Kerr's guy
Are we starting to see the fall of the suns?
