Does Alando Tucker have a future with the Suns?

He's about to come back in a week or so after the knee surgery, something that caught my attention in an article was when Terry Proter was talking about Alando he said something along the lines of, "We're pretty stacked at that position". So it seems like Tucker wont be getting much playing time.

What do you guys think about the Tucker situation? Would the Suns be better off trading him or just keeping him?

Im not sure he is worth much. I would like to see him get a chance. I think he could be a solid player for us on D and O. I rather see if he can do much and be a supporting cast member and then trade barbs or bell. I think I rather trade barbs more.

He has zero trade value, so we should keep him and see what he should do. He was our best preseason player IMO, and he's DOMINATED the D-League.

If Tucker's jump shot turns out to be superior to Bell's, yes he has a very good future with us NOW.

+1.

And Tucker's the better scorer.

His jump shot did improve over the training camp and he showed us flashes of an excellent outside scorer who could handle himself if he ever got inside against someone his own size. However his defense is still iffy and so is his 3pt shot for now. But like Rsavaj said, the guy pretty much has no trade value right now, if we were to trade him we'd be on the short end of the stick. So we might as well keep him around and see what he can give us.

Funny how out of all the picks we could've kept, we kept his.

Seeing as how he has played in 6 NBA games I really do want him to get a chance. Has shown flashes of brilliance, and while most of those came in the NBDL or NBA Summer League he deserves a few games with okay minutes.

(even as i am writting this I am not quite sure what I am trying to accomplish lol.) Basically I want Tucker to get minutes but I can't see how it would pan out. My rotation idea might not be a good one, but can any of you more basketball savy guys come up with a rotation allowing LB, Bell, and Tucker to all play?

Example (albiet not a great one ;))

Also this is my first attempt at creating rotation schemes so please bear with me and cut some slack. Don't be afraid to point out flaws though. I can take critism pretty well :). The idea I have is using three rotations per quarter. Mostlikely subing every 4 Minutes.
First Unit

Pg-Nash
C- Shaq
PF- Amare
SG - Bell
SF - Hill

Second Unit

Pg - Nash
C - Amare
PF - Diaw
SG - Barbosa
SF - Barnes

Third Unit:
Pg - Barbosa ( or singlertary but definatly not Dragic. I would take Barbs over him at the helm anyday.
C - Shaq
PF - Diaw
SG - Tucker
SF - Barnes or Hill (who ever has the hot hand.)

Im not sure if the idea of three rotations in one quarter is stupid or not but on paper it looks pretty solid. The first unit can run (if Shaq ignites the break) or play in a half court set. The second unit can really increase the tempo and the third unit ... well idk about them but I point is tucker gets some pt.

Minutes per quarter:

Nash - 8
Amare - 8
Shaq - 8
Diaw - 8
Barbosa - 8
Bell - 4
Tucker - 4
Barnes and Hill 8, 4 or vise versa

Obviously one problem is that Amare needs more minutes over Diaw they shouldn't be equal.

Agreed 100%. The kid can't go tear up the D-league and be garbage. He needs some pt so we can see what he can do against the big dawgs. Then maybe he is the starting SG of the future and Barbs can be traded for a wing player with D or another big. RoLo will also be good with the right amount of pt. We really should be developing these youngsters more.

funny, tragic, dragic.

I think Tucker can be a solid player for us. He has worked hard and I think the numbers says this kid has a future if given the chance. I think his obstacle in getting PT is Barbosa. As long as he is here, playing the backup PG, hes not going to see any mins. We did pick up his option with means they have hope he will produce in time.

Before the injury, this was his numbers the 4 games he played in preseason
14pts, shot 6-12
21pts (3-4 3pt) 7-10
5pts 2-9 (Indian Wells)
10pts (0-4) 4-11

Summer league he avg 21.6, 4 rebs and shot 57% from the field and 44% from the 3. We all know what he did in the D-league. yes, it is not the nba, but if you can't produce at these levels, Im not too confident they could play against the big boys.

Other thing is he played 4 years of college and is a smart player. Hope he gets some time soon.

I just don't see it happening. I always thought that DJ have more of a future with this club purely because he didn't need the ball to be involved.

That's what I still dislike about Tucker's game. He's not good enough to throw the ball to (and/or we aren't bad enough a team to *want* him to have the ball) and it doesn't look like he can be a great contributer without the ball in his hands.

If he is to have a future in the NBA he needs to develop into a lock-down defender and his spot-up J needs to get a lot better. Be happy to trade him for a vet PG I'll be honest with you.

I actually think he'll end up being a vgood player in Europe once his NBA contract expires.

Still need Tucker regardless as insurance and to maintain the No. 13.

We're gonna need Tucker once one of the wings inevitably go down.
