Nash - Calderon: Something to think about..

Post#1 » by Duncanfan » Tue Dec 9, 2008 11:42 pm

Hey Suns fans.. Raptors fan here. An interesting story aired on Toronto sports TV this afternoon and I had to see what you guys think about it. It talks about Nash's Canadian connection, a need for shakeup in Phx etc.

What do you guys think about this?

Love the trade, Calderon is one of the most underated players in the league and he can still help the Suns contend while Nash would be a rockstar in Canada if he's traded to the Raptors and with Nash in the east the Raptors can contend.

Win-Win for both teams.

I wouldn't mind the trade, but his reasons for Phoenix doing the trade are pretty flawed. Nash hasn't declined; he's the same player he was a couple months ago, and it looks like Porter's started to allow him to do his thing.

As far as "shaking up the team", Phoenix will trade Amare before they trade Nash.

If Porter goes back to marginalizing Nash, then yeah, Calderon+Moon(or Kapono) makes sense, but as of now, Phoenix wouldn't make this trade.

This trade doesn't happen. As a Raptors fan, I don't want Nash because a) he is a similar player to Calderon other than the fact that hes much BETTER. b) he doesn't bring what they need on the perimeter, which is DEFENSE.

As a Suns fan, I probably do this trade if its Kapono + Calderon or Calderon + Moon + 1st. (I prefer the Moon version, cause we get a hustle type guy and a first round pick).

And b/c Kapono's contract sucks, and I don't like the fact that he seems to spend as much time on his hair as he does on his jumpshot.

Well, it's not that I'm "all for" this trade. I believe we do need a shakeup, but certainly don't think Nash is the one that needs to go. If we had the opportunity to dump Diaw, Bell, Barbosa, or Shaq and make this team SIGNIFICANTLY better, I'd do it.

I guess we can all speculate on what can happen. heres mine, we grade amare for Lebron so he can be compete with Kobe. Oh yeah!!! Im kidding.

Interesting trade, but for some reason, Im not pulling the trigger. I actually think nash is better for this team than Jose C. with the talent we have on this team, we need to get things clicking. There is still time, and I only see Nash leaving if he asked to be traded. During the season, I really don’t think so.

This trade will never happen. BC might love Nash, and he also might be good to play in Canada for marketing purposes, but lets be honest: Nash is aging, and he might not still produce the same level that he did before.

This may be the first time I disagree with something you say brother. But I do not see the team trading Amar'e before Nash.

As for the trade itself. It wouldn't be a heartbreaker. I love Nash, but he would still flourish in Toronto, and would def be a rockstar....and gives us a great young PG...so Im in

I honestly dont see any upgrades for either teams with this trade at all, calderon is a younger Steve Nash with less experience right now, and if this this trade was to happen it will just be to help T.O and MLSE boost their sales and Marketing and nothing more.

I say they'll trade Amare b4 Nash not b/c Nash has more trade value(he doesn't), but b/c Nash is the face of this team, and Amare's ego may be a bit of a problem in the locker-room.
