More news about Nash and other Suns stuff...
by Paul Coro - Dec. 14, 2008 09:21 PM
The Arizona Republic
Steve Nash never got over that the Dallas Mavericks immediately broke up his 2003 Western Conference finals team by trading Raef LaFrentz and Nick Van Exel, two of that team's top five scorers.
Nash practiced Sunday with a Suns team that has two other carryovers from two years ago. It was a day after many Suns attended the opening of Raja Bell's Scottsdale Moody Blues store as Bell played in Charlotte. It was the day Mike D'Antoni was in town coaching a New York Knicks team in preparation for his return to US Airways Center Monday night.
"I feel like I've been traded," Nash said, chuckling. "I feel like I'm on a different team because everything's changed so much around here. We have a lot of differences now after quite a bit of stability but change can really be positive. Amidst that recent chaos could come strong order. We're all optimistic but it's a strange point with Mike coming and all the changes."

It's weird. I obviously want Phoenix to win, but I want D'Antoni to show Sarver/Kerr that Porter is the wrong guy for this team...

Ah, the old, "should I cut my nose off to spite my face" quandary. Good luck with that.

Great article. Shows why I love Nash. Who else could say:
"Amidst that recent chaos could strong order."
He's gotta rank top 3 in most articulate bball players.

He is very intelligent and thoughtful huh? Even at a young age I could understand that in Kevin Johnson's interviews as well.
Coincidentally they are my two favorite point guards and basketball players of all time.

Well if the nose is infected and risks killing the rest of the face, then yeah cut the nose.

This headline, like many others I've seen lately, is misleading.

Lol, I post here once in a blue moon, I compliment Nash on his eloquence, and of course I somehow mess up his 6 word quote. Should read, "Amidst that recent chaos could
come strong order."
In my defense, it's finals week.

Yes it is, yes it is...I've got some killers.
Very benign comments by Nash and yes articulate, but you know what these guys need to shut up and play ball. They have to quit flirting around saying things about displeasure with FO moves etc. The FO sucks but that has never given players a right to speak out about their organizations, and it never will. Nash may be articulate but he has apparently never taken a business class and lately has lowered himself one step toward all the thugs who whine about their contractual duties.
If you don't want to lose teammates that are close friends, why don't you check them when they are defying the coaching staff? Oh yeah, its because Nash himself has been making passive aggressive comments himself all season.

--- You'll see that other news agencies that picked this up cut the word "chuckling" from Coro's copy, which makes the quote (and the story) read very differently. God, I hate journalism as practiced in most places.

--- Good point. I love the guy and think he's a very smart, more than decent human being, who has apparently made a decision to try to speak honestly and intelligently to the media. He might want to rethink that - boring as it is to read and mouth banalities and cliches, at least there's very little the reporters/editors can do with them.
Beyond that, conflicts with the front office should be kept private. It doesn't look good on him

This headline is bull. It's just a way to get attentions. It takes the article and the entire quote out of context. The relevant quote:
"I feel like I've been traded," Nash said, chuckling. "I feel like I'm on a different team because everything's changed so much around here. We have a lot of differences now after quite a bit of stability but change can really be positive. Amidst that recent chaos could come strong order. We're all optimistic but it's a strange point with Mike coming and all the changes."
And aren't we not allowed to post the entire article? Lately people here have been posting the entire thing.

thank you miklo714. that is exactly what needed to be said.
I wish he would stop whining and play! Lead your team man! I know it sucks, but come on. Whats done is done.
He is still one of my all time favorite players, but he needs to stop talking about it right now. Go out and lead this team to some wins.
