OT - Shawn Marion being shopped...and comparison to J.Rich?

I wanted to see what everyone thinks about the Matrix being shopped around by Miami, to Cleveland or other teams... I still wish he had managed to be happy in Phoenix and help us win a championship... oh well...

I'm also ecstatic that we got J Rich. To me it seems like we got a replacement for Matrix, who can also do some J.J. moves and then some. Is it fair to compare J. Rich to the Matrix? Seems like J.J. leaving got us some nice pieces, ie Boris + 1st rounder (which turned out to be Lopez?), and then Boris for J.Rich.... It turned out okay in the long run...? :D

It's fun watching the Suns again, with a Matrix like player in the mix, in J.Rich... 8-)

On offense u can compare Rich to Marion, I've already done so actually.

They're both sick athletes that move without the ball very well and are lethal on the fast-break with their sick dunking in transition abilties. Rich is a better shooter and doesn't have that weird ass Matrix release tho. They're both below average ball handlers too, and good rebounders for their position.

Marion is a much better and more versatile defender tho.

J-Rich replaces the 18-20 points Marion gave us when he was playing his best. Defensively Marion is in a whole different league.

i am really glad to hear marion might go to the cavs. they are a good team and he deserves to be on a good team. he is still my favorite player. i dont really see the comparisons though. they are very different players. both offensively and defensively.

Just on comparisons the player JRich is prolly most like in regards to our former players is prolly QRich. But he's obviously better. Both very tough, good rebounders. Both 3pt shooters who like to post up because of their strength. Both just avg defenders and ball-handlers/play-makers.

I would say JRich is a better defender and much much better without the ball. QRich pretty much just parked himself on the 3pt line. He also has better low-post moves.

Even I have said that he'll give us things that we've missed since Marion left but I don't think their games are really alike. Likewise with Joe Johnson. Joe was/is much more of a ball-handler and better defender IMO (backed up PG when he was here). Sees the court a lot better. Even tho Joe is massive for a SG tho I think JRich is *much* better at using his body. Joe is a poor rebounder for his size. Not as good a post player as JRich either. I guess their shooting is pretty similar tho.

Still got love for Marion and I hope he ends up somewhere where his skills can be truly appreciated. I do think he was incredibly naive about the finances side of things but I also think our mgmt doesn't do a good job dealing with players/agents egos. It's one thing to *think* a player isn't going to get the max and it's another thing altogether to tell it bluntly to the player. You position it differently and that's something neither Sarver or Kerr quite get yet.

Anyway it would be great to see him in Cleveland as a 1-2 punch with Lebron. He's the perfect player to pair him up with (outside a pass-first PG).

Marion to Cleveland for garbage would be a great little get for Cleveland.

The question is, if Marion was unhappy in Amare and Nash's shadow, what about LeBron? :-?

If this goes thru, it will benefit Marion and the Cavs. They will be a nightmare defensively with Marion and Lebron along with Ben Wallace. He will suffer offensively becouse you have LeBron along with Mo Williams.

HAHAHHA perfect. he doesnt like being the 3rd most valuable asset on the team either... Nash, stat... then Matrix. but isnt he behind wade and beasley in miami... and id say he's in worse shape than he was in phx... speaking in terms of what he was "talking" about anyway... his reasons for wanting to be outta here is exactly what he has right now... so idk whatever its done. im happy with our roster just need a decent PG on the bench but other than that im ready to see what we can do from now on.

Marion should have taken the 3 year 30 million offer Miami allegedly offered him, given the way he has played this season I don't see how much anyone will give him once his contract expires.
