OT - Garnett's B.S

Post#1 » by harshey1388 » Thu Dec 18, 2008 2:52 am

okay let me start by saying KG is a beast, future hall of famer, amazing teammate and all that good stuff.

BUT i want to know what YOU would do as a ref or league official about his yap? i know KG is the most intensity driven player in the league hands down. but i was watching the celtics and hawks game today and he is yappin and cursing at players on the floor... and at the end clearly lip read profanity from him to a fan...

i have no problem with him slaping, begging like a dog, barking and all that stuff as long as he keeps it to his teammates... but bring the fans into it and other team players in to it... just makes it seem like a Pacers and pistons fight waiting to happen...

IMO i think the league really REALLY needs to tone this down before it gets ugly... start handing out tech's... if players cant pump there fists on a bad call when they are TURNED AWAY from the ref. how the hell is whatever KG is doing not a tech...

just my little vent of the night cuz i saw him yapping and calling out a fan and thats pushing it IMO

what do you all think?

Haha I noticed that as well. He started flippin out after he made a hookshot and looked at someone in the crowd and said something like yeah moth******* take that bit** it was pretty funny. I wish Amare was like that.. It'll bring his game up.

BUT I don't know if you're a basketball player or not, but when you play ball you're a different person and it's an amazing feeling talkin stuff during a game, especially if you're winning. :D

i am a basketball player and i know its an amazing feeling as well but there is a line... what says that fan isnt a few beers in and chucks his beer to KG's face? id blame the player BECAUSE i am the fan, i am the one to dislike and like my fav. players its the superstars job to keep composure... and in your point about being a bball player i am more of the reserved kind... i will try and keep my cool not thump chests and stuff but in my head be doing things like that in my head be like "damn right b**ch so i guess i dont know the exploding at every play feeling haha

First things first, I love Garnett's game and i love his intensity and passion for the game. But I think it's an issue if what he does damages the integrity of the game. Something rather small-scale like the clapping and the Mutombo finger wag is fine, but when you're on all fours "guarding" the opposing rookie PG, I think it does damage the perception of the game. I mean, the guy's a grown ass man and he's on all fours.

I love to trash talk when I play and I love to do little things that piss off the opponent, but it gets to a point where something is just not basketball. The begging like a dog is not basketball. If the finger wag gets T'd up, so should that.

His antics don't really bother me. If he's on your team, you absolutely love it. No opponent will step up and throw him off so he keeps going at them. He's got quite the mouth, but he's one of the few players in this league with that kind of intensity, and people complain that players don't care and are only here for the paycheck. He's got crazy passion for the game and I respect it.

I love KG... I love the fire he brings to the court... I have no problem w/ what he does.. I remember a few years back in the playoffs when he was clapping his hands in steve nashs face. it made me smile. it makes me love basketball even more to see someone play w/ that kind of intensity. oh and three more things to add. steves my fav player. I was talking about nashs dallas days when that happend in the playoffs... and man what could have been if we coulda made the marion kg swap happen...

Im tired of it. If those kind of antics were on my team I would feel the same way. There is a very definitive line between simple trash talk during a game, and what Garnett is doing. WEEKS ago the league came out and said they were paying extra attention to Garnett's antics, yet he has yet to receive one technical foul for taunting to my knowledge.

I seriously hope he pulls that against us... Shaq is one of the few people left who will spin Garnett upside down for garbage like that. The Barkleys, Oakleys, and Laimbeers of the past NBA would have happilly taken a flagrant two during the season to get Garnett's mind right.

The NBA is so freaking soft now that he can get away with what he is getting away with.
In this "post-Palace Brawl" NBA, antics like his should result in league intervention and they are not... Just another huge double standar in the NBA thats begining to drive me away from the game. If it isn't something to do with the Suns I have no desire to watch a moment of it.

It's BS that he gets away with stuff no one else gets away with. Amare will get ejected for throwing his arms up but KG can curse and use the F bomb and it's ok?

Seriously watching him pound Perkins in the chest repeated amount of times, and looking at the look on Perkins face. Simply was I was this guy wasnt the star he is because I would put an end to this quickly.
Someday if the Celtics DONT WIN IT you can bet your last dollar there will be a slew of spineless Celtics comeforth and tell the world how he WAS rather than how he is....

I love his motivation and desire to take a teammate aside and give him some pointers but sometimes Kg can get outta line and make a player cry aka big baby Davis.

I say no because he is the only player allowed to do it. You can allow a "passion" rule for KG and T up another guy for the same thing.

I personally LOVE when the passion takes over the game, I would have been ecstatic if I were at the game where he got on all fours. But the NBA eliminated all those emotions way back when, so they now need to deal with it.

All or none; even KG can respect that.

garnett is such an arrogant classless punk - i hate him

i love that intensity but he has gone too far

how come garnett can waive his finger and clap in calderons face but if mutumbo does it its a tech for taunting?

then the on all fours thing was a joke (its on youtube pidi) garnett is a punk who deserves to be taken down a peg or 5 and remember where he came from

his mother didnt raise him like that

I don't like how the NBA governs what is and what is not a tech foul when it comes to taunting. Garnett on all fours should be T'd up imo, hell I would be embarrassed to see my own team mate on all four.

What I don't get is the T's when a player gives the opponent a huge facial and just screams. I think that should be allowed as with other taunting "techniques" like the finger wag and clapping.

I can't wait for Celtics to come to town to play Shaq and the Suns. Shaq are one of the few players in the league who won't take that kind of sh*t, even if it's not directed at him. Shaq's been in the league for a long time, during the days where a personal foul back back then would be considered flagrant fouls, and even he said after the Rockets/Suns scuffle, he don't care about if he get T'd up or fined. There was an article on ESPN about Garnett's antics, some of you might have read it, but it was talking about how he directs most of his taunting towards sub all-star level players like Bayless, Bogut, Pachulia and Calderon. I'd like to see him go up against the Rasheeds, Artests and Shaq's.

I don't mind KG's trash talk, what I hate is when players take mind games too far and purposefully try to injure the opponment (Bowen, Laimbeer), or when they flat out go psycho (Artest). Garnett just taunts and keeps it at that.
He does deserve to get T'ed up under the current NBA rules, but I don't think that ish like the Mutumbo finger wag should get him a Tech either.

The Hawks players were talkin crap to the Celts players during their playoff series last year too, so I don't blame KG for wanting to remind em who's boss in last night's game.

It's nothing new, he used to talk crap quite a bit during his T-Wolves days too, and I remember him and Gary Payton talkin shiyt on team USA during the 2000 olympic finals against France, it just gets under the radar a lot more now that he's in Boston.

I hope that KG will try giving Amare mental hell again next time we play Boston, and that Garnett's plan backfires by gettin Amare pumped up and lead to him trashing KG on the court, just like it went down last time. :D
