Suns have just signed him to a contract

I haven't watched this kid enough to have a reliable opinion.

Won't see much action so really doesn't matter who (though I can't wait to see Dee play).

I think he could break out but on the other hand he can easily be a bust, it's a like a 50-50 chance with this guy but it's only the vets minimum so it doesn't matter. He was just a second round pick a few years ago and is only 24. It's better than signing someone like Eddie Gill or Damon Stoudamire anyway who peaked already.

I don't think a guy signed to that sort of deal can really be labelled a "bust"?
Expectations are really low, so anything he contributes ie the odd 3, some decent D etc, will be a nice surprise

Not a great shooter, not the hottest playmaker.
FRIKKIN' FAST!!!!
Kind of like a smaller Barbs without the 3 (he shoots the 3 about as well as Barbs has done thus far this year, around 30%).
Doesn't seem like a meaningful signing at this point, but maybe he'll turn out to be a good reserve. Learning from Nash certainly can't hurt. Hopefully he takes Tragic's minutes...

I like this pick, he was called "the one-man fastbreak" at Illinois for his speed and defense. Was projected as a high pick in the '05 draft but broke his foot and sat out the draft because he didnt think he would get drafted, then got shafted when he came out in the '06 draft. He is a short player at 5'11 but he has great handles and is VERY FAST. Not a passer but what he lacks in passing he makes up for with a smooth jumpshot when he's given the chance to shoot, he played a 5'11 SG at Illinois because he was very good at creating his own shot with his good handles. The point guard on Illinois at the time was some guy named Deron Williams, dont know if any of you guys have heard of him though......
Ok i'm done with my thoughts on the signing haha.

when I saw his name in the mix, I started to think he might be a nice lil surprise. I agree, with his non-guaranteed contract, anything that he brings should be a bonus. I know he's fast, that's all I know.

He looked alright playing for Washington earlier this season. His decision making has gotten better over the past couple years, but he still lacks the lateral speed on defense to make up for his lack of size. His shot has gotten a little more fundamental, as well. He's worth the signing.
So this means that Barbosa is a back-up shooting guard, right?

Kind of right...I think he plays 22-26mins as he has been, and plays the odd stretch at PG...the whole of Phoenix cringes when he's the "playmaker"...head down, to the hole, offensive foul
I still don't see why Hill isn't the backup, with Barbosa defending the opposition point guard

Anyone remember that spill he took in the playoffs when he was on the Jazz? Think it was '06. Wasnt he temporarily paralyzed or something?

Will Barbs be traded if we find a capable backup then (Dee or another one)?

So we just acquired the smaller version of Barbosa. Why didn't we get a PG that is a better passer?

As our new PG would say, "Check dis ish out"

Anyway, I like giving this guy a chance. Being a college basketball enthusiast (as I'm sure none of you can tell from my avatar), I actually liked how he played over in Illinois. I like Nashty's comments. My take is: he wasn't half bad at making plays there, and actually shared responsibility at the point with Deron, which really says something. He was a good on-the-ball defender and showed some ability at stealing the ball. As we all know college performance says nothing about professional potential but you never know what he could blossom into.

I didn't like him behind WIlliams, but the man can play. He can't distribute the ball, he can't score, and he can't defend... but he can move the pace...

I am sure he is at the very least..... 'the second best Pg in the D-League'
Really...are we to think that this kid is goiing to be 'the piece' we need ??? If we are to rely on this D-Leaguer to be the panacea to over minute-ing Nash, well, then go ahead and get you another glass of that KERR-LAID.
Finding a back up PG is that is scheduled for 12-15+ minutes nightly, is a job that should be done in the off season. Our Front Orfice has been consistantly ineffectual in this matter.
Quality contributors are hard to find. You have to PAY for them. This is truly another example of where the budget gets in the way of the goal. If you can't sign them, then deal for them. We made a trade that did not address our true needs.....we made a trade that sqelched internal grumblings....allegedly removed a few 'Bad Eggs', but still left us with glaring weakness.
I don't know what these guys are thinking as bringing Dragic over here was just another BLUNDER. Unless another deal is brewing, (and I am suspect that our organization has the over-all savy and talent to pull one off) I don't see anything in this signing that will be anything more than a roster filling reqirement. I hope I am wrong. But logic says different.
Kerr's ring squandering manuevers since he took the helm are setting him up for a new award.....

I expect us to cut him as soon as a veteran gets a buy-out.

^ I hope so. Like frank said, D. Brown is probably no the missing piece we need.I think we just needed to sign someone, and Kerr is taking a gamble on Brown. At least we will have someone that can guard D-Will when we play the Jazz.
