Sounds like he wants to remain a Sun, hopefully he doesn't change his mind and management extends him this summer if he opts out.

I'd hate to think about what's going to happen after Shaq/Nash/Hill are gone. We're probably going to get put into a situation where we have to decide mid season whether we trade Shaq/Nash for their expirings, or let them retire here and be forced to bid against all the other teams already clearing cap space.

If we're lucky enough to grab a big name FA, we still have our bench to worry about. That's when selling our 1st rounders might bite us in the ass.

I think it depends if Porter and he can work together. If they can find a midway between their wants and needs then I think he would come back. But if Porter can't utilise him properly and make him our "superstar" I think he's going to leave to a place where he will be "The Man."

MY prediction is that Amare extends this offseason and the Suns loor Dwayne Wade from the Heat. Then they start filling role players around them.

Why would any marquee FA want to come play here? Owner who won't build a real team around them, incompetent coach, and a roster that looks like:

Barbosa/Dragic
Richardson
Tucker
Dudley
Fropez
+a couple draft picks.

The only reason that Amare would stay here is b/c we can offer him more money than any other team; that's also the reason why I don't think Wade would leave Miami, and if he does(same with Bosh/LeBron), they'll look at NYK first. I don't think that Amare is worth the max plus contract that he's going to demand, but that's what it'll take to keep him.

How can all the professional NY teams except the Jets afford to get so many good players? Are their managers just really good with money or do they have more money to get players then every other team? Yankees always have like 7 big names and Knicks might get 2 great players in lebron and bosh in 2010, or can at least afford to sign both of them to huge contracts.

This is what I hate about all these stupid press releases players make talking about their future. There's no such thing as loyalty "right now". You are loyal to your team, or you're not loyal to your team. Same thing as saying something "may or may not" be true.

It sounds a lot better when you actually read the article and read what Amar'e Actually said.

I guess it doesnt take long till someone bashes the suns FO. honestly, I like amare to stay but if the suns can get a good player in a sign and trade that would be cool too.

Even though Amare may have some flaws, almost every NBA player does. The Suns should look to keep him unless the package another team offers would be better than Amare. The worse move they could make would be trading him for 50 cents on the dollar in value.

I'd rather build with role players like the Pistons/Spurs have

Try and get Butler for $45m over 4...get a GOOD backup PG for Nash (Hopefully still ok in 2010, good for 25-30mins like old Stockton), and get a defensive big like Chandler or Dalembert

Heck even offer Manu something

Read what you want to out of this article. This is the same cat that a few weeks ago said this is just a business and he has to look out for himself, just as owners do. I'll take that statement with no hard feelings.

Question will be in 2 yrs.... do you pay Stat 17- 20 million for 4 to 5 yrs ? I wouldn't, unless he has a strong enough supporting cast. And there in lies the Rub. For the amount of hay that this horse will require, you can get a team of mules that will pull the same wagon.

I would assume that Amare would want the money AND know what the teams long term plan is. As a matter of fact, so would I! Has Kerr (or any other significant person) said anything about the 09/10 lottery? Will we be in a position to compete for another major piece to put alongside Amare? I'm sure the answers to these questions will affect Amare's decision. Like Amare said "Everyone is saying come over here" I think he needs to see something worth staying for.
