Darius Miles - Blazers Threaten Action - Sarver Inquires

Post#1 » by A roc 23 » Sat Jan 10, 2009 12:37 am

So I know you all know about this but there doesn't seem to be a thread on it.

Here is the link: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3822392

League sources told ESPN.com that the Phoenix Suns' Robert Sarver is the only other owner so far who has continued the leaguewide e-mail discussion. Following up Gilbert's note with a brief question directed at the Blazers, Sarver wrote, "Are you saying we're not allowed to sign him?"

Looks like Sarver is interested. Do you think it would be worth the risk? What does everyone think of the situation?

Personally I'd like the Suns to take a look at him. They need another big body that can shoot and Miles looked thicker last time I saw him. He could also shoot back in the day. Knee injury or no knee injury.

The players union would back us up, as would the NBA itself and the other owners would as well.

Yeah he had a bad shot for a SF, SG or PG (yes he played point for the Clippers/Cavs at times).

But for a big guy he had a decent shot:

At his best 53% of his shots were jump shots and he made them at a 45% clip. Not bad at all! That's about what Amare does.

And who better to do that then the team that has handed them some quality players for almost nothing?

Point is getting bigger might hurt mobility but I doubt it really hurts your shot that much.

I'm not saying he is a great shooter or anything, but he'd be the best shooting big on this team outside of Amaré. Certainly better than Amundson, Shaq or Lopez. Amaré is playing too many minutes and Miles might be good here for the occasional run when his shot is falling. This team needs a big man that can trail the break and shoot an average 13 footer.

That's assuming he really wants to play winning basketball though.

Are you kidding? He was only attempting to have the Blazers clarify their position over whether "anyone" could legally sign him. In other words, he was not expressing interest in Miles the player, but the Blazers legal standing.

Haha I laughed when I saw what Sarver wrote - I feel like he's mocking them.

If we're gonna go for an injury risk, I'll take Livingston.

But I'd rather not. We don't need someone with DMiles' build, we have like 8 of those. We need a PG or a big.

Same here, I want the Suns to sign him and tell the blazer " Better give us Rudy back for a second round or else..."

But it looks like Memphis has signed him. I hope Ivoroni does play him for two more games.. Do it!

The Suns should sign Miles as payback for the loss of Rudy, it's only fair since we gave him away for next to nothing.

Blazers are stupid to send out an threat like this to other teams. Just immature and will hurt them in the long run.

I am happy someone picked up Miles and hope it goes against their cap. Don’t know what the issue is b/c they have the richest owner in the NBA.

He didn't become the richest by writing out useless checks.
