Amare riled up in Hawks game

Did you guys notice Amare's reaction after he was whistled for two quick fouls, 3rd quarter, in the Hawks game?

The dude was furious! He marched his way directly to the bench and kicked something on the way.
Then, they shot a closeup of him while on the bench and his facial expression was similar to a small kid getting punished by his parents..

I've never seen him show his emotions like that before, and it comes to shows that he's still developing as a player, and unfortunately--is still immature in some respects.

I would hope that Shaq is mentoring the guy and teaching him how to control his emotions on the court...

Just an observation.

He does it a lot more often than you think. His biggest issue with on court etiquette imo is when he yells "And 1" when he is driving down the lane. He also has this barking yell he does in the paint, and yells at the refs instead of talking to them.

There are much more efficient ways to look like a bad ass that wont make you look like a dumbass at the same time. I hope he realizes it sooner than later.

I'm more worried about his lack of improvement in rebounding and defense or I should actually say his regression.

Why everyone is soo hard on Amare. Give that guy a break without him we would be nothing. Yes, so he gets angry half the time and gets in foul trouble but he still a Sun and we need to support him either way. The season is still long he will realize sooner that picking up early 2 fouls in the first quarter is crazy and will adjust, all good players adjust.

I think Barnes is a lot worse when it comes to reacting to Refs calls, someone needs to teach him to just move on and play D.

I actually thought it was good that Amare just stormed to the bench and didn't say anything. He didn't yell at the refs and risk getting T'd up.

Shaq giving advice on how to control emotions?

As a side note if your username is referring to "the" JJ Redick then you da man. Got a signed picture on my wall!

For sure. His rebounding is atrocious, absolutely unacceptable. He does have the huge body of Shaq basically competing with him for rebounds, but Amar'e can not be a premier player in this league if he is just a scoring big.

You guys crack me up. Lets start a thread about how amare gets pissed when he gets fouls..blah, blah, blah. Really, this is a subject? Who cares. The guy has emotions. We all do. How many of you yell at the tv after a bad call???? That’s right. Yes, he should mature and learn how to control them, but get over it.

His rebounding comes and goes, that is a concern. At times, hes an animal that grabs a lot of rebs. Most of the time when shaq is not on the court he is a better rebounder. I would say he has improve this year in his rebounding, and it is going to take some more time because his natural instincts from HS and from Mike’s lack of coaching skills, he has to get into a mentality of doing the small things all the time. I think Porter is working with him on it, but it comes and goes.

I just hope he improve his fundamentals. The number of rebs is not as big of an indicator, it’s the fundamentals of blocking out his guy so his man does not get the ball.

I think the suns are a lot better rebounding team now, but still have much to improve on.

Pay me 14 million a year and I wont scream at the TV anymore. I will also throw in 10 rebounds per game at no additional cost to you!

AHahahahah!!! So it's D'Antonis fault if Amare doesn't know how to rebound!? That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever read on this board. EVER.

It's Mike's fault if Amare anytime there is a ball up in the air just stares at the ball, completely forgetting to box out and forgetting to even put his hands up? Then when the ball bounces he tries to reach for it when there's already somebody with a better position...too late Amare.

Don't be ridiculous. Amare doesn't know how to rebound because of several reasons: he doesn't have the fundamentals due to him starting playing basketball at a late age, he never tried to learn because he's always focused more on improving his offensive skills and, frankly, the guy is just not so smart. On defense he constantly makes dumb mistakes and sometimes he even lacks energy (which is ludicrous to me. He should be "killing" everybody on any given night).

Kobe yells a lot when he drives to the hoop too, I think a lot of players do that to try to get a foul called.
