Would you trade Amare for...

Post#1 » by vinnycorleone » Tue Jan 20, 2009 3:21 am

Dirk Nowitzki.

Imagine Nash, Dirk and Shaq together. That team would be definite contenders.
Imagine J-Kidd with Amare. That would be an awesome tandem.

I think both teams understand it's impossible to win a championship with their current teams. Why not make this trade?

Salaries match up. Both are 20 something and haven't even reached their primes.
Both teams would be better off than they were before. (More shooters around Shaq and J-Kidd with a run n gun Amare and Josh Howard)

I'm a Lakers fan but I was thinking about the state of the Suns and Mavs and I thought about this and said "Sh*t that would be pretty sweet for both teams*

Let me know what you think

Ah, sorry, total brain fart.

I'm 100% for it, even though I'd prefer to go younger(Aldridge, Okafor, etc.)

Dirk Nash and Shaq would be a horrible combo.

There's only 1 basketball on the court, and there's a reason Steve Nash and Devin Harris weren't able to reach their full potential while playing next to Chokewitzki, he dominates the ball WAY too much.
Not to mention Dirk is also a crap defender and a poor rebounder, there's absolutely no point in trading for him. Put Dirk in Amare's role in Porter's system and he averages 20/7.5/2 with equally shiyty defense.

If we trade Amare we have to get a guy that plays defense and knows how to play off the ball in return, basically the polar opposite of Dirk.

Aldridge is a good idea.

Even if he isn't a good rebounder, he's still a good defender and he doesn't dominate the ball. If we can figure out a way to get Aldridge + Bayless Blake or Sergio + Fernandez Batum or Webster + bad/short contract in exchange for Amare + Barbs, then go for it.

If we trade Amare I would like him to go to Portland because they have players we want/need.

Portland would never do that trade.

Heck they probably wouldn't even do Outlaw + LMA for Stat and Barbs.

Stat would probably make their offense much more potent, but defensively they would slip. LMA isn't a great defensive player but at least he gives enough of a f**k to rotate on defense and grab rebounds.

Please lilfishi22, why in the hell would Kerr want to put okufor and shaq together??? Please explain because that is not a good idea for this team.

Im all for trading Amare. Shoot, im all for blowing up this team now. Why wait because its going to be a long rebuilding process with Sarver and Kerr at the helm. Lets get it started now instead of 2010. Maybe we will be relevent again in 2015 insetead of 2018.

i know i just thought i would put a fantasy trade on here. Notice 3 of those players are Arizona college alums? Haha, in reality though the contracts wouldnt work any other way, I tried LMA, Bayless, and Outlaw and the salaries didnt work by like $10 million. Damn Amare's contract.

I'm sure Portland would consider this with the logjam of swingmen and PGs they've got :

I'd rather get Rudy or Batum over Webster, but that might be asking a bit much

esc: I never said we should make a trade for Okafor now. I mean after this season when we got expirings and we can start rebuilding a defensive team.

I like this one...

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=1711~1981~3032~3423~1727&teams=21~21~21~4~4&te=&cash=

Kerr should be on good terms with Bulls mngmt/ Vinnie Del, so making this happen isn't entirely out of the question.

end up with a pretty deep and solid line-up...

Nash/Hinrich
J-Rich/Barbosa/Tucker
Hill/Barnes/Dudley
Gooden/Tyrus/Admunson
Shaq/Lopez

I'd take it but Porter wouldn't play Smith at the 4 I don't think, and we can't bench Grant Hill.

Why wouldn't he play Smoove at 4? Smoove would be a good fit with Shaq.

J-Smoove is crapping it up this year (compared to last year). If we give up Amare, we'd have to get another usefull piece as well, not just Smith.

Smoove has been injured early in the season and he says his ankle is still not 100% as you can see from his bpg stat.
